oxgirl Report post Posted January 11, 2007 I feel so negative about school at the moment that I think it might be clouding my judgement. I seem to over-react and get infuriated whenever they do things wrong or handle things badly (which seems to be on a daily basis at the moment). Today his TA arranged with him to meet him outside his Drama lesson. She got there a bit early though and, instead of waiting for him, she decided she'd go off to his Science lesson room and meet him there!! Of course, he came out of Drama and she wasn't there (AS THEY'D ARRANGED) and he didn't know what to do. He got himself into a blind panic and was running round in circles panicking. Of course, not a single other kid helped him out, he was totally by himself amid this sea of other children. So, he did the right thing in the end and ran back to his supposedly 'specialist' ASD unit (*snorts*), burst through the door in an hysterical state shouting about how he can't find Pat. Anyway, someone took him off to his Science lesson and there she was! He totally exhausted himself by getting so terribly stressed and gave himself a headache which lasted for the rest of the day and he still has it now, and it could just so easily have been avoided! What's wrong with these people, why are they sooooooooooo useless, or am I just being too judgemental??!! ~ Mel ~
reuby2 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 Hi mel <'> <'> No you are not being judgemental, If an arrangement is made then it should be kept to (that's for anyone not just our kids) BUT even more so when the uncertainty of what is happening has such a huge effect. I hope your son feels better soon, that his headache clears up. Also if you decide to go into school (which I would) I hope they can just "get it", perhaps if something was printed out they might take more notice !!!! Thanks reuby2, I feel like I'm going mad with it at the moment. I've sent so many emails about 'incidents' recently that now they just ignore me and don't even bother replying. It's not as if it's something trivial either, can't they see how important these things are!! Not sure whether to bother trying to bring it up or just let it go. ~ Mel ~
reuby2 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 Maybe you could write it out in the way that the social stories do !!! E.g....... If I make an arrangement to meet someone, I must make sure I'm there, If not, that person might think I'm not coming or worry where I am. I must always communicate what I am doing otherwise other people may be affected !!!!!!!

Bagpuss Report post Posted January 11, 2007 Mel, sorry to read that you are experiencing further probs with the school. Must be so frustrating for you I can fully understand why your son found this situation distressing, and am surprised that the TA would not of known this. Wish I knew what to suggest.......big hugs hun <'> <'>

I just asked Jay a minute ago if she had said sorry to him for not being there or if she'd been nice about it and he said that when he told her she should have been outside the Drama room, she replied 'you don't talk to me like that, you don't tell me what to do'!! Lovely attitude, seeing as she had been the cause of him getting in a terrible state and feeling ill for the rest of the day. I don't think this woman even likes him let alone is nice to him. ~ Mel ~
