School visit

Recommended Posts

We took J to visit the proposed new school this morning, and it went extremely well. The school were very obliging, couldn't have arranged the visit better. We went up at 9.15 so that the school would have quietened down after registration, then J, dh and myself had a tour round the school with J asking lots of questions. Then he was introduced to two Y3 boys who were allocated to look after him, they showed him where to hang his coat and bag and took him out for playtime, which he managed well. Then he joined the Maths class and had a fab time because it's his best favourite subject. He'd also taken his packed lunch so he joined the other kids in the hall to eat. The only downside came when the Head went to tell him his parents had come to take him home and we could hear him in the corridor saying "Aww, no!" because he was having such a good time and didn't want to leave.

So he's definitely got a place for September if we want it (do we!) but we won't confirm till further on in the summer as the autism outreach teacher wants us to look at a couple of othe schools closer to home. Can't see them being more suitable than this though.

DH and I are both ecstatic, and J's got a misty-eyed look on his face at the thought of the God-like Maths teacher. Bless, him, he thinks he's in Heaven!
