Extra weighting for Special Needs?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I understand that in Canada, a special needs child is considered to count as up to 4 ordinary children when classes are being made up and this affects both the ultimate class size and the financial and teaching resources that are available.

Is there a similar procedure in the UK for additional weighting to be given for a special needs child in mainstream?

What a great idea!

My school does provide support for specific children in and out of class, as well as class TA time for all, but Canada seems to have gone one step further.

I do know that over the years I've had complaints about SEN/EAL children getting more than their fair share of time and resources.

It's hard to keep your civil and professional face on sometimes.
