asking about travelling time (different question)

A teacher is coming to see Hev on Monday about Steve maybe going to his Devon school (lEA)

In Yeolvaton? However it has always been noted that Steve will need to see his mum most weekends. Seeing he has fits when he is stressed I would like to know if travelling at peak times on a Friday afternoon would do more harm than good. We live in Kent. We particullarly asked for a nearer school but they have ignored that completely. What is your opinion?

well i would assume that it is a specialist school who would have dealt with things like this before, ask them i sure u will be there,

make sure u have all u Q's written down to ask,

my bruv wnet to a sen school back in the dim and distant, he traveled from the borders to glasgow every week and it wnet oks, he wasnt asd, but lookin back others were

i can understand u worries, thinkin of u all

You have the right to say what school you want him to go to, dont be rail roaded. I certainly would want to see the school propsed myself before a decision is made

ive just spoken to the NAS,i told her about my reservationns about steven going to devon residentialschool,told her about his fits and she said i should ring up lea,dont let thempush me into anything i dont want,and as theyve agreed he can go to independant schooli could find one nearer home,the lea do tend to railroad me,im not having it no more

Good for you If parents don't stand up for their children then who will? There is a book available hat lists all special schools, if I remember correctly it 'The habitas guide to special schools'. Might be worth a look if you can get it. You will need to do what you feel is right and show thw LEA you won't be bullied.

If you select the schools for special needs (3rd option) it gives you a long list of types of need to search under.

 

They also publish a big guide The Gabbitas Guide to Schools for Special Needs which is worth getting hold of. You may not need to buy it if you can find one in your local library (ours had a copy).

 

 

I agree with the others - look at the suggested school but check out others as well and don't let the LEA bully you into something you don't want. They will be thinking mainly of their own budget rather than how right the school is for Steve - or maybe I'm just an old cynic!

k to be honest ive phoned my lea on numerous occasions to say i di9dnt want the devon school but they totally ignored me and went ahead with arranging things when i was having a vunerable day i just agreed with them,im not opposed to residential,i came round to the idea ages ago its just with steves epilepsy,the distance i think devon is to far to come home on a friday and go back on a sunday which is what will be happening.
