Flora Report post Posted March 20, 2008 I got Bill's amended statement from the LEA following the tribunal's decision. Everything in the statement is perfect, but the covering letter stated that they would be giving me a mileage allowance for driving him myself. It's a 4 hour round trip and it's just not possible for me to do it twice a week every week... what with my other two children and impending work committments. I emailed the LEA explaining this to them, fully expecting it to be another big struggle but have been pleasantly surprised yesterday by an email informing me they would organise a taxi for him. Then I got an email from another LEA bod asking me if he needs an escort!!!!!! wow. Then I emailed them asking when he can start and they said he can start whenever I and the school want him to, and that there's a taxi ready and available for whenever we want him to start. It's like the brick wall has transformed into thin air! Ping! he starts on the 23rd April increasing from 2 nights to 4 nights over a 4 week period. Yay! Kathryn Report post Posted March 20, 2008 It must feel strange to actually have a date now, Flora. As the LEA are being so nice to you, can't you hold out for a stretch limo? K x

Flora Report post Posted March 21, 2008 Thanks guys It does feel strange knowing when he's going to start. At the moment I don't have any jittery feelings about it, probably because it's still several weeks away. I know when he went for his assessment visits I sat by the phone for the whole time and kept checking it to see if I'd some how missed it ringing! I needn't have been so worried though because when he did ring he said he was enjoying himself. As for Bill, I think in his own way he's looking forward to it, he's certainly less stressed since we got the tribunal results because now he knows whats going to happen to him. I turned down the offer of an escort because he would hate that. I will probably travel with him the first couple of times then he can go by himself. The only problem he will have is motion sickness, but that's going to happen whether I'm there or not, and it will make him feel worse having an escort there. Thanks for all your good wishes.
