Stella63 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 Wow, we had a fun day yesterday!! OJ had been complaining of stomach pains for a couple of days, right hand side, that were getting worse. I got an appointment late afternoon with Dr who immediately phoned the hospital and told us to go straight there!! He was checked at A&E and admitted for further observation. OJ freaked out when they drew blood out for tests and then more so when they put a line in for a drip!! We were taken up to a ward and then had to wait to see another doctor. They weren't sure if it was appendix or swollen glands from the flu - apparently you have glands near your appendix and it can mimic appendicitis. Unfortunately there was a major trauma and we didn't see a doctor until 11pm by which point OJ was totally traumatised at the thought of sleeping in a strange bed, strange room with a tube coming out of his arm! Luckily the doctor decided that he could come home and we monitor the pain. If it gets worse obviously he will have to go back but so far so good!!! OJ is determined it will go away - Christmas CANNOT be ruined!! Bless him, he was really brave and all my fingers and toes are crossed (well not really) that we won't have to go back!!! Stella63 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Hi Thanks guys for your thoughts. OJ has been fine so wasn't appendicitis but a swollen gland from the flu virus (one to watch out for in the future!!). Mind you he was so adamant he wasn't going to be in hospital over xmas cos that just doesn't happen - not to him anyway!! Managed a quiet xmas day with no major traumas although we find that OJ spends all year looking forward to this one day and somehow it is always an anti climax in some way - really difficult to handle especially for DH as he finds it hard understanding how OJ thinks!!!
