meeting this afternoon

Recommended Posts

right I think I am ready - can almost hear the bell ringing in my head "ding, ding ,ding - next round"

After much thought I have decided that the proposal that has been suggested to cobble together something for Andrew is not good enough - so have sat down & listed all the flaws that I can see & have used yoda Nellie's links to print off info on record of needs & IEP information - ( he has neither) - but it will be important if he has to go elsewhere - and that looks likely as the high school has said it can't meet his needs.

can't think of anything else - with all these meetings I usually take a report on the latest behaviour & the current situation and problems we have to deal with - but not done that - but got my other lad off sick and he has been sniping away all morning.

I have shown Andrew the list of things that I am saying and have asked him to speak at this meeting as it is important that his voice is heard - & he has said that if he understands the question he will answer it - normally he sits in the quiet room with a magazine - so getting him to come into the meeting is a step in the righ direction - as long as his brother does not wind him up so much that he gets too agitated.

It has taken me about 30 mins to type this because of having to stop because they are fighting each other - so getting really stressed myself :wallbash:

argh!!!

Sounds as though you're as prepared as you'll ever be. Try to take a couple of minutes before you go to rein yourself in so that you're calm for the meeting. Wishing you luck.

thanks very much :)

well I am tentatively optimistic - they are talking about 2 different specialist schools - one of which the ed psy & the head LEA person are going to go to tomorrow & give me feedback on - and it was stressed that the ultimate decision is ours - but big deep breath - they are talking about residential - which is a bit of a scary thought - but the opportunities it would give Andrew sound fantastic.

Ironically I have just managed to get a weekend job - but I suppose the flip side is that I would be able to get a week job instead ( oh to have money again lol)

he is going to continue going to the psych day unit over the summer holidays - a couple of hours on a Tuesday for mixing with his peers & a social skills group on a Thursday & he is happy enough with that - he signed the timetable to acknowledge comittment :)

so at the moment my head feels like it has budgies in it & my stomach is just churning - the next stage is to wait till after their visit tomorow - get feedback then go for a visit ourselves to both places they are thinking about ( although one of them does have a waiting list)

thanks for the support B)
