new welfare reforms

Recommended Posts

I show a great inerest in politics around welfare rights especially having unfortunately dealt with them a lot in the last few years, I ind the new proposals very frightening as it seems that they are going push a lot of people into poverty especially people with disabiities. I am looking to get a diagnosis of aspergers and have a mood disorder my girlfriend is bipolar so life is very difficult to cope with the thought of all these changes gives me great anxiety.

I have struggled for years to cope with normal life and i dont cope with stress at all i hate been away from my family even for a short period of time.

I just wondered what other peoples opinions was on the walfare reform ??

Thanks lee

heya

these welfare reviews are scary anxious time for my family as a whole as my twin brother deaf blind my mum is both our appointee for DLA benefit and my mum gets carer's allowance for my brother.

my dad only works part time and is on low income to run family home has pay gas electric rates etc and i'm on middle rate care and low rate mobility and my brother is on high rate care and low rate mobility

my mum and dad have been to appeal on decision years ago of my brother being on low rate mobility as he needs help to guide him and support him when walking. but 2 on panels doctors would change ruling and agreed with parents one didn't so standed as is which made my parents angry. as my brother can't do out unaided as he can walk he not entitled to it!

i would like to enquire about getting more financial help as i'm on low part time income wages and get paid monthly. i would like to apply for income support raised discussed the benefit idea situation with my mum she said to leave until we know where government going to leave us in benefit changes situation.

my mum is worried that how me manage if benefits are looked into taken away how we'll cope as a family as is struggle any way to manage. see my brother 'differences' are physical but mine going to harder to prove due to paperwork of assessment and diagnosis is that going to enough as evidence as it 'hidden' looks like fight to prove both our cases more so on mine as in my head

i scared when move out on my own due to these benefit reviews are me going to working part time and being on DLA benefit worried how i'll manage if any of these financial support to top up income etc

worried scared for my family where this leaves us and feel bad guilty i can't work like 'normal' young adult and work full time my dad has to get up early hours of morning!

my honest opinion?

we're all ********ed (insert word of your choice)

However, I knew that the day the gov't was formed. I'm old enough to remember the last tory gov't :crying::crying: I remember the number of people who dies each winter because they couldn't afford to heat their houses, I remember how every street in every town had homeless people sleeping on it at night and beggers during the day, I remember the poll tax where a family of 6 earning £12,000pa paid the same tax as the single billionaire in his mansion. I remember the removal of tenants rights, of workers rights and of the breaking of the unions. I remember the introduction of clause 28 - a law specificaly designed to discriminate against a whole section of the community (now repealed) and so many other conservative laws brought in with the aim of keeping the masses down and the rich richer.

I remember, but apparently too many other people forgot, and they're back to do it all again:(

Our direct payments have already been completely cut:( I also expect pretty much everyone with an ASD will lose their DLA over the next couple of years.

I dont give much hope to people with physical disabilities never neurological/mental health problems, its not about a better life it is about money all of it no matter the consequences. I wasnt keen on labour but then i also new whichever goverment got in charge they would be changes but not as harsh as they proposing.

This is going to cause more poverty not decrease it and they just using teh whole lazy society as a excuse which for the majority they will buy, all these changes have worried for sometime but always hoped that they would at least look those who cant or would need a lot help to work which has never been the case really but now none at all.

Im so angry with the whole thing, this goverment should be allowed to get away with it.

I didn't vote (wasn't registered) but the problem is that politicians have LONG forgotten who - and what - they are; CIVIL SERVANTS, elected by and to serve the populace. These days, they pay themselves what the fook they like, help themselves to extras from the public purse and most have interests outside the House, which I bet they don't declare!

Look at the front bench; only a couple (Theresa May and Vince Cable) aren't public school educated, and/or have an Oxbridge degree.

Whatever happened to 'governance by the people for the people'...?!

As an audience member on Question Time last night, eruditely observed: - this whole tree thing - it's just a red herring so we forget the damage they're doing to the welfare state, the NHS, youth unemployment, students etc., and to make it seem they're actually listening to us. He went on to add he didn't believe they were going to do it anyway... I happen to agree with him!

That's the problem, they'll get away with it because they're squillionaires. I'm old enough - just! - to remember the last Tory government, too (though strictly speaking this is the Ne Coalition Academy as Private Eye puts it - not that I read that anymore; not after they made a tasteless (in the extreme) joke that there was an organisation set up to deal with the disabled - it's called Dignitas! I cancelled my subscription that very day, and not bought an issue since!)

This part of Bucks has been deep Blue for years and my MP (Dominic Grieve) is another who's public school (Charterhouse, IIRC) and Oxbridge educated.

'

I became embroiled in a VERY heated debate on FB last night (I subbed to the Indie's fan page) over this issue (my statements got me over 2 dozen 'likes' each - not that I was counting or anything!)

Right I need to go lie down for a bit I think... I could be here all night on this one!

The same welfare reforms would have happened under a Labour or Lib-Dem government.

I've been painfully trying to explain this for many years that Westminster governments are not sovereign, meaning that the party in power has full control over its actions, but instead, are heavily manipulated by external and higher order powers. Examples of these powers include:

The European Union.

The United Nations.

The US Government - via the Special Relationship.

The World Trade Organisation.

Big business and the global financial elite.

A few years ago I had an article about how the World Trade Organisation considered Britain to be too generous when it came to handing out benefits and urged the (then Labour) government to tighten up in order to increase competitiveness of UK Plc. As Britain is a member of this club it has to abide by its rules and requests no matter which political party is running the country. Another option is to withdraw from the WTO (which we can do) but none of the establishment parties desire to do so.

Whatever happened to 'governance by the people for the people'...?

We have never had it in Britain. We're not Switzerland!

The British political system is an elective dictatorship based on 18th century ideology when our MPs were drawn from a pool of obscurely educated and out of touch aristocrats.

I was concerned at reading the new way of assessing children with special needs. Whilst having just ONE assessment seems better than dozens (Or even a 100 one woman went through!), the government said they wanted to REDUCE the number of children labelled as special needs. A woman on the BBC news said we NEED the label Autistic to ensure we get support from experienced people. I can echo that, because my child was put in 'special needs' in mainstream school and they gave up after 4 months. There wasn't a single tutor or support with any experiences of autistics. You just do not lump all children with issues in one place. This is presumably another attack on specialised schools and to reduce support in mainstream ones. Autism can progress and make issues worse for our children, if they only have the one assessment, how can we campaign for increased support when things change if there is no continuations of assessment, our children's needs change. It's like an DWP letter sent to a deaf friend of mine, who was born deaf they said "Can you hear now....?" He said "With no ear mechanism, highly unlikely !!"
