Mihaela Report post Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Eliza Pirosca, a Romanian singer, singing Sunt atat de mic ("I am so small") - and you don't even to understand the language. One of the most moving and profound songs I've ever heard. It's really intended to be a Christian song, but its deep existential meaning transcends all religions. Ultimately, we are all entirely alone in a vast world, wandering aimlessly - a scary thought, unless we believe in something greater than our mortal selves. The video adds to its meaning and makes you think about why we are here. Edited October 11, 2014 by Mihaela

Mihaela Report post Posted October 13, 2014 Sorry. Too disturbingly discordant for me! It has more than a hint of brooding menace. It sound slike the soundtrack of a horror film. The uneasy year, tortured by its spring of adolescence, broke into bud-spots in hedge, copse, spinney and byre ...hmm, and those bud-spots would soon become rampant sukebind! Cold Comfort Farm is utterly unique, a minor classic - I love the book and the film.
Mihaela Report post Posted October 18, 2014 Süssmayr's 'Birthday' cantata, sung by a Hungarian children's choir. I was given the LP many years ago by a friend. It's one of my favourite classical pieces, so uplifting and beautifully sung (in German). (It's in four parts on Youtube). .

Cold Comfort Farm is utterly unique, a minor classic - I love the book and the film. I once posted that quote on Facebook and someone asked me if it was by Keats. I'm currently listening to Rossini, Mosé in Egitto. Edited October 20, 2014 by Aeolienne
Mihaela Report post Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) 'beauty is truth, truth beauty,' – that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know - Gibbons Daisies opened in sly lust to the sun-rays and rain-spears, and eft-flies, locked in a blind embrace, spun radiantly through the glutinous light to their ordained death. - Keats I saw something nasty in the wood-shed - Ada Doom By the way, I'm listening to the wild music of the autumn wind.. Mihaela Report post Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) A beautiful musical interpretation of Mihai Eminescu's poem Somnoroase Pasarele ("Sleepy Birds"): I love his poetry. Here's a translation by Corneliu Popescu: "Drowsy birds at even gliding,Round about their nests alight,In among the branches hiding...Dear, good night !Silence through the forest creeping,Lullaby the river sighs; In the garden flowers sleeping...Shut your eyes !Glides the swan among the rushesTo its rest where moon light gleams,And the angels whisper hushes...Peaceful dreams !O’er the sky stars without number,On the earth a silver light; All is harmony and slumber...Dear, good night !"
