Is the NHS autistic ?

Recommended Posts

Is the NHS autistic is a good question, I am beginning to think as much,

But how are they autistic you might think,

Well in answer to that they certainly seem to exist for themselves that is for sure, but there is something else I have detected and that is they are very good at intently focusing on a subject, the laser like focus many of us have on specific small areas of detail which is good, but where they seem to suck big time is the bigger picture, the conclusion of all their areas of narrow beam focus, in that they don't seem to be able to collate all the data and come to a reliable conclusion.

Now it could be it's not the NHS but it is in fact the medical professionals themselves in that they either don't care or they are in actual fact on the Autistic spectrum themselves and so largely suck at collating data even when it is in front of their eyes or is easily obtainable via a few punches of keys on a keyboard, unless of course the various departments don't talk to each other and data cannot be accessed by those who have a mind to seek.

Any thoughts ?

They take uni to be able to work on NHS to be honest I never believe anything my GP would say like I were in hospital they said I have mild concussion they would say I have whiplash, the hospital says severe migraines the GP says its cluster headaches and now the GP says nothing is wrong with me when in pain all over but only have a low blood pressure in which I felt faint

Don't think I have an answer to your question. However as someone who works(and studying) through the NHS I have to say your last point on lack of communication is very true! In fact I just done a presentation and essay on the topic.

My dad has COPD and its one of his main issues. Due to lack of communication nobody picked up he had TB for almost 6mths as they kept putting it down to his COPD. When they eventually treated him there was a huge difference within a month and he could do more daily activities.

I personally cannot fault the NHS and its not because I work for them its because I grew up in a country where unless you had money for private healthcare/medical insurance, you would suffer and even die from the most basic conditions. People old and young have to queue outside from 4.30am,even in winter, just to see a GP and even after being there all day they may not get seen and have to try again the next day. So we are very lucky.

I am furious with them again, they seemed to be getting it right indicating they had a clue and now so wrong, over twenty years I have been on this quest and I am still no where positive where test results revealed the opposite of what I am supposed to be and the GP could not explain but instead refused to referring me to a specialist how many weeks away eighteen at the maximum I am told, will my mind hold up to that length of time now the seeds of doubt have been sown for my problem is my mind and what it does when there is a problem and I cannot stop it when it is like that for obsession many an aspie will know where I just have to find answers for myself where the qualified to answer seem impotent.

Yes we have a healthcare system paid for by taxation it is a good system open to all whoever they may be, but could be better if it was not a post code lottery, where NHS national patient guidelines don't appear to exist in all areas or accessible by all sectors of society, but it is not just what should be there and seem not but there does appear to be a mentality within the service where it seems they prefer to treat their paymasters as commercially grown mushrooms and that I find deplorable, but complain and the system clams shut.

Now it was at one time I used to be a technical engineer I repaired and serviced medical and aviation equipment where I understood the gravity of the situation if I was not up to par, and so precision was my game, I would let nothing out if did not meet the exact criteria that was set for each item for I knew people's lives and wellbeing depended on my ability, yes I was a pain in the ass to all my employers I am the first to admit that, but the gravity of the situation weighed far more heavily on me than my employers profit margins. Reoccurring faults I cured for I would track back through maintenance and usage records to find faults, which were more often than not the issue was human error and I would do something about it like suggest further training where it was applicable because of the gravity of the situation- peoples lives and their wellbeing. Now that was me whether it can be again, I do not know as a scummy benefit scrounger I am now and the damage this country has meted out is palpable, but I know for one thing why could I understand the gravity of the situation in my work yet medical professionals are seemingly so blase, are they not aware of the damage they cause in their apparent lack of concern ?
