aspieman Report post Posted January 6, 2013 When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh. When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but DON'T YOU QUIT! Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victors cup; And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow, Success is failure turned inside out- The silver lining of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far. So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit... It's when things seem worst that you MUST NOT QUIT! Sa Skimrande Report post Posted January 6, 2013 It's a legitimate word in the dictionary, meaning unconventional, or eccentric. It is that, as is the word; Gay, meaning; joyful, laughing and merry from old french ; gai The use of the word to describe homosexuality comes from underworld and prison slang

Sa Skimrande Report post Posted January 7, 2013 And the context in which it has been used here would be highly unlikely to offend. It can't offend whilst there are legitimate other meanings still in popular use as to understand the LGBT movement don't own the word and so cannot take offence. Sa Skimrande Report post Posted January 7, 2013 but u see when u type in internet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer Wikipedia is hardly a reliable source of information through it being editable by anyone and answerable to no one. But if you wish to understand a word, type the word followed by 'definition' or 'meaning' and you will find all sorts depending on the word and who is defining it, where personally I prefer Merriam Webster and if I wish to understand the origin, I use etymology online. aspieman Report post Posted January 7, 2013 Sorry I have not replied I have not been well and have been battling with depression, No I didn't write this poem myself, I don't know who the original author was. When I was 18 (29 years a go) My father wrote it in my 18th birthday card.
