we are in the process of having G assessed through camhs.

he is currently on the waiting list for a S+L assessment and also the waiting list for the physciatrist (probably end oct)

 

i have rec'd a summary of the observations and suggestions from the specialist teacher who came into school to see him and one of her suggestions is that the school could refer him to the ed physc for assessment.

but what exactly does the ed physc do and will it be of benefit to him?

i'm sure if i want this to happen i will need to push for it myself through school and would like to know what i'm pushing for

I've taken the following from the Jargon Buster (top, right hand corner of the school, next to the star).

 

 

 

Educational Psychologist: Trained teachers with a qualification in psychology employed by the LEA to advise and help teachers and where necessary, to make recommendations to the LEA on providing for the needs of some children

 

 

 

If G hasn't got a statement or been assessed for one yet, the LEA may use the Ed. Physc's recommendations in the final statement.

 

Either way, the Ed. Physc. should be useful.

he hasn't got a satement......presumably because he isn't dx yet?

camhs have said he may go down the statementing route.

to be honest there is so much going on and all fairly quickly i feel like my head is going to pop.....lol

I was diagnosed by an Educational Psychologist and I've been worrying recently if she was qualified to do so. My statement will run out on the 19th when I turn 21(fat load of good it has actually done for me), so I'm eager to have a look at my files before they go to the shredder. I'd like to speak to her again and look into getting a clinical diagnosis on top of the educational one.
