annie Report post Posted August 23, 2005 Carole, It's great that ITN are making the public aware of these tragic stories. If it was a case of a child that died while the parents were under social services suspected of child abuse there would be uproar, and quite rightly so. But to take children away from a loving, caring family It said on the report earlier that the court judge refused a support plan suggested by family and supporters.........leaves me speechless. There are many teenagers that get pregnant, boyfriend leaves them, baby gets left with the girl's mother while the teenager takes little responsiblity for the baby. Does she have her baby taken away from her? No, because she has family support. What's the difference? Got that off my chest Annie MP's and broken promises, the two seem to go hand in hand, don't they?
blueangel Report post Posted August 23, 2005 Many of our group members have found that there is no support available locally or nationally for parents of SEN children who are experiencing difficulties with Social Services. It seems that even established advice and support networks fail to recongnize and support people - I believe Debbie Storey and her family were failed on numerous occasions. A recent concensus of members opinion suggested that nothing has changed.
