Daughter not developing breasts

Recommended Posts

Guest hallyscomet

Hi

I know this is not an asd question but my 16 year old isn't developing breast she is having all sorts of blood tests and a specialist is thinking of referring her onto and endocrinologist.

Have any of you parents had this problem with your child, if so what did you do?

She suffered epilepsy at 9 and they feared she had a tumour with turned out to be a cyst in her brain, the doctor is wondering if this is causing some problems.

This is why I havent been around lately, going back and forth with assessments for both children at present.

My son I was telling you had to be reassessed for his meds and he needed to have the Risperdal increased, this seems to be helping him a bit, but its a slow process, of constantly monitoring him. Feel fine about him now, but alas its my daughter I am worried about now, its really affecting her self esteem as you could imagine.

Anyway, thought if there was just one of you that had experienced this it would be really nice to hear what worked for you. She is currently wearing AA padded bra's thats how tiny and only 46 kilos we are having trouble keeping weight on her as well.

Regards

Hailey :)

poor girl - possibly worse for an NT than AS because her awareness of others and what they might be thinking and her need to fit in will be very strong influences on her self-esteem at this age >:D<<'> >:D<<'> >:D<<'>

the only thing I can suggest, as a temporary stop gap is those silicone things you can put in a bra - just to boost her confidence, although if she's anything like I was as a teenager she'll then be mortified just thinking of a boyfriend finding out and develop a hangup about being touched

very difficult situation

wish I knew more - has she developed normally in other ways - periods and things? Some girls do come very late to them and it ties in with breast development (had a friend didn't start till 19 but she did get there in the end)

Hi Hailey

Ive no experience of this but sending you some of these >:D<<'> sounds like your having a busy time at the moment

Without making everyone loose there lunch - is she late with everything? (the 'monthly' thing ;) ) Maybe she's just late to develop?

Hope you get some answers soon >:D<<'>

There's the possibility of some chemicals causing problems, for example fluoride is a hormone disruptor, amongst many other things. Are there any other hormonal problems? Might be worth checking if your water supply is artificially fluoridated, or even just high in natural fluoride, or if there are any other known environmental contaminants.

It's probably not just one thing, for example a very low fat diet, or inability to digest fat properly may also have a bearing.

It might be an idea to rule out environmental concerns first.

I remember my doctor telling me that things start to happen once the girl is about 45 kilos and regardless of age.

I can vouch for the 'chicken fillets' things, my daughter has one breat that is a full cup size smaller than the other and having this fillet to pop in her bra has added a real spring to her step.

Hello and thank you all for your replies >:D<<'>

She has the periods but they are very erratic, usually 3 - 4 months apart. From the blood test three months ago the doctor said her body because of her weight had gone into a drought, she has a terrible habit with food I think these stupid girly magazines like Dolly that they read they become so obssessed with their weight. I think she is trying to talk herself into believing she is anorexic, don't know if it is an attention seeking thing, as she certainly gets a lot of attention from her friends about it. I totally give her a no reaction reaction but keep putting foods I know she loves in front of her.

She confessed when she was 11 she noticed she started developing before everyone else so she would wrap herself up tight so nobody would notice, even punch herself in this area to try and stop herself growing. I know my sisters are petite in build and this area so I explained to her perhaps she is petite like her aunties. But it wasn't until we received these tests from the doctor my daughter confessed that she has a fear of going over 46 kilos and that when she was 9 she thought she was fat. She just had good muscle tone and I think she was comparing herself to her brother who was almost like a stick as he was taking Ritalin and you all know how this affects our childrens weight.

They were talking of putting her on some hormone therapy then the doctor said she would send her to a Psychiatrist and a dietitician. It was when I mentioned this to my sons Paediatrician he said no thats not the way to go she needs to see an Endocrinologist. Sorry guys just venting a bit, (getting it off my chest as it has been building up and I took it out on my partner the other day) the stress with my two and his daughter, poor guy had to duck for cover  at least we are laughing about it now. Her next appointment is on the 19th Dec just had more blood tests checking estrogen levels. Girls Girls Girls, I am sure we worried our parents with our eating ways when we were children, to be honest I was very much like my daughter but didnt have the problem with development she is having.

She is using those jelly things, and water bras, its amazing whats around, but its when she goes to the beach I feel she is really aware as all her friends are fully developed she says and has had many a tear about it, Lets keep our fingers crossed that the Paediatrician has the answers :pray: it is affecting her self esteem. :(

Hope you are all looking after yourselves, not getting too stressed with the Christmas thing.

Cheers

Hailey
