littlenemo Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Back in the days before most folk here were even a twinkle, the squeaky-clean John Denver had a hit with a sickly sweet song called Annie's Song. Here's a variation we wrote in the car on the way home from the Orthoscopic Clinic in Gloucester. Any more lines/verses anyone? Aspie's Song you fill up my senses like a flickering striplight like an all-school assembly like the smell of tre gym like the barging at break time and the taste of cold sprouts you fill up my senses don't do it again like the cacophanous shoppers ike time flashing blue neon and the folks all around like the perfume department And the taste of brass coins you fill up my senses don't do it again like the drone of the hoover like the smell of the shampoo and the red of that towel likely slippery nylon and the fresh minty toothpaste you fill up my senses don't do it again Nemo, Zemanski & Dot
Flora Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Like the cold prickly blanket Like the smell of the kettle And the hum of the fridge Like itchy labels And the flush of the loo You fill up my senses Don?t do it again
Brook Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Like the sound of your laughing, and the feel of the playdough, the slithering taste of jelly, and the piercing alarm, you fill up my senses, dont do it again. When are we going on top of the pops, or isn't that on anymore. Brook
Kathryn Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Unfortunately I AM old enough to remember the original in all its ghastly detail and your version is a vast improvement. K x

openyoureyes Report post Posted April 22, 2006 me too Kathryn I used to take the mickey out of my old boss cos of her love of this song wish i'd had this version to sing to her wac I was listening to a song the other day and thought all the words were truly what my kids must feel "its a mad world" cannot remember who its by but its been done recently by someone? I just thought the words said it all, think this should be the NAS song Had a sleep over last night with my kids and 2 friends so this morning I am on the ceiling, one of the boys decided to undo our bean bag and now I have snow all over the lounge (polystirine to be correct but cannot spell it!!!) oh well, hoover out, kids upstairs before I turn it on keep smiling
Zemanski Report post Posted April 22, 2006 (edited) Like dizzying fireworks and the crash of the powder the crowds are all faceless and the words don't make sense crushed at the barrier I'm tactile defensive I'm supposed to enjoy this don't do it again I once had the pleasure of hoovering the garden after a 3 year old decided he wanted snow in July and emptied a beanbag off a first floor balcony - I spotted him getting his wellies on and questioned his 'inappropriate' attire Z Edited April 22, 2006 by Zemanski

Zemanski Report post Posted April 22, 2006 Or was it Mad World by Tears For Fears? chorus: And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you 'Cos I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad World
