MSBP enquiry

Recommended Posts

Sorry Carole, I have no experience of this, but to be honest we have seen so many different consultants over the years for our middle child with various complaints (which I think are all connected eg. asd, dermatology, orthopaedics, ears etc. ) that I can see how this can happen.

This story would make being labelled 'neurotic' a relief :(

hi oracle, thanks for bringing this to attention. this has been a major concern of ours too, in our area parents are being encouraged to have family therapy, and attend webster stratton courses. now, in this area, it has become "policy" for all early years children presenting with difficulties, that the parents first see a specialist health visitor who looks at their home life and then "bribes" the parents, with "go on the webster stratton, and if your child is still presenting with difficulties, only then will they get acess to a consultant for diagnosis" obviously this is worrying! its a concern of the implications this has for parents with this information being held on record.

i myself was asked to attend family therapy and webster stratton when all three of my children presented with difficulties. of course i declined! i think what is very worrying, is even parents of children with illness's such as cerebal palsy are being accused of mhbp!

this is something that has to be stopped, its hard enough for parents as it is, and accusations like this, may prevent parents seeking the help they need for their children.

Well, when my son was 14 and suffering from a severe breakdown, the only assistance SS offered us was a parenting course!!:lol:

I said 'of course', because I wasn't going to have them use any refusal against me

And in the event, the parenting course didn't even materialise!

We had the last laugh, though...we were very fortunate that my son had a superb medical team and a wonderful EP from the LEA. With their help and support we got him the specialist placement he needed...and it's part-funded by SS!!:thumbs:

Bid :bat:
