  1. Hi Lisa We had to appeal as we were turned down the first time. We got the middle rate for my wee cherub
  2. My 5 year old son does this as well. Usually when he just has his boxer shorts on..........................
  3. Hello I have started a "special book" for my son with all the pictures that are important to him ie escalators, lifts, golf clubs, fans, snooker tables etc. Gosh, I spent ages on the net trying to get a decent picture of an escalator and finding lift pictures was even more difficult. We use this book as a reward, I have made one for school as well to use in this manner and time will tell if it works. By the way, my poor wee angel has got a tummy bug - it is such a shame as he can't really tell me what is sore....................
  4. Hi Viper What a nightmare for you all........................ Would the national autistic society be able to help you in anyway re advise? My son is 5 years old and he is still in nappies. He goes to an autistic school and they make no issue of this at all. What sort of school does your son go to? Forbsay x
  5. Hello My son did a pee in the toilet today at my parents house (all by himself) and this included flushing the toilet and washing his hands. He has done this before when we were on hols. It shows that thinks are clicking in place. We have him in boxer shorts when he is in the house and my mum has been taking him to the toilet every hour.................. there is hope. My outlook on him is that he will do everything eventually but just in his own time! It was really funny tonight - he came home from staying at my parents house and was more delighted to see the hoover than me!
  6. Hi Katkin (i really like your user name - it makes me smile) I am going to get a schedule for him to use in the house - will go down to school armed with my digi camera and take the relevant pictures that I need. School will prob be used to me going around the playground when it is closed as that is what we used to do so that he could get used to the place.....................
  7. Hello My son got diagnosed when he was 2.5 years old. Really glad it was an early diagnosis. However, when we went for appointment we thought it was for a speech assessment and we came out with the autism diagnosis..................
  8. Hi Witsend Just put the tape over the switch once you have put the light on. I don't totally remove the tape when I want to switch the light off................ I don't find it much hasstle to be honest. By the way, I like your pun! Forbsay
  9. Hi CarerQuie Thanks for the info. Will speak to his school about this. He is using a visual timetable at the moment.............. Will let you know how I get on!
  10. Hello My son used to do this very frequently. I spoke to a lady who helped me with my son and the easiest way to stop this is to put cellotape on the light switches/plug switches - believe me - it works! Forbsay
  11. it is when he is waiting to go into school. He also lies down when he doesn't want to do something............. Em what are transition cards?
  12. My son is 5 and has started school - must be about a month now. However, he keeps lying down and refuses to get up. His teacher has now said that he can use another door that goes directly into his classroom (to try and avoid him lying down on the floor). Tried it today and yet again he lied down in the playground. None of the other children seem to do this ( he is at a school which specialises in autism and aspergers) It was a bit more difficult today as i was carrying his wee sister at the time. I think this is a game that he is playing but i am finding that i am getting quite stressed about this or maybe i am just being silly.......................... Does anyone else's kids do this? If so how have you tried to resolve this? Thanks
  13. I actually really like spiders. When I was younger (ALOT younger). I used to have a pet spider in the greenhouse and I used to feed it green flies. My little girl (aged 2 years) also loves spiders - in fact I bought her a huge plastic one for her bday (much to her delight!)

My son accidently killed my goldfish - one of them was 10 years old. My little cherub was transferring the dish water (complete with fairy washing up liquid) into the goldfish tank................
  15. Well today I decided to go to Sainsburys to get some cheap wine - however when i was in the car park I managed to scrap my car door against a trolley - there is now a dent in the door and the paintwork is all scratched! When I saw what i had done, my blood went cold. Came into the house and told hubby to go and see the car. He was very calm about it (this could be partly due to the fact that he is allowed to go golfing next year to Spain with his wee pals). He reckons car will cost about 500 to fix so saved 8 on wine and forking out 500 so that is a loss of 492 for the day! .................

  17. Hello I am very fortunate in that my son will eat practically anything............. Though at school dinners - he has not been eating very much. I think he is getting a bit overwhelmed by school. So asked him what he wanted on his sandwiches - he replied tuna so that is what he is getting today!
  18. Hi Tez This is on issue that i pondering over regularly. I also ponder about what is going to happen to him when I am too old to cope with him _
  19. Hi Viper and your wee boy, I am thinking of you both. Take care xx
  20. Well, I had a strange day y'day. Kids were fighting at 9 AM and i thought oh no just what i need as their daddy was going away golfing all day. I had a screaming match with them and then went upstairs to discover they were both eating their breakfast side by side - quite happily. Decided to take them shopping, miss boo in her buggie and matthew walking beside me holding my hand - no wrist strap. They behaved like little angels! Came home, they fought a wee bit but nothing unbearable! Put matthew into his boxer shorts. i was downstairs and he was playing upstairs. Came down with poo on his hands and all over him but the wee lamb came and told me and he had already tried to put some of it down the toilet. Disgusting yes but at least he is clicking.....................(no i have not gone mad) .................. Though i have been taking hormone balance vitamin tablets and they are working a treat! Elaine xx
  21. Hello Viper Thinking of you tomorrow. By the way, you are not old................ Forbsay xx
  22. Hi Emum Totally know what you are going through re toilet training. My son has started school and is still in nappies. I used to get very stressed about this but now what i do is nappies at school and then boxer shorts in the house. I think he is slowly started to click. He will be toilet trained when he is ready. I always think to myself - every goal that has been set for him, might take a very long time but he will do it. Last night he put his shoes on for the first time and a sock - waited a very long time to see him do that! Lesley - I know what you said about boxer shorts. I did have an incident like you said and had a smile on my face..................... x
