  1. You're not alone there Tally, I think home maintenance is every female's pet hate. Its easy to put things like this is the too hard basket, then all of a sudden you look around and think oops, time for some tlc. Wait till you have kids Also, the waiting for tradesmen to turn up, they will give you a morning or afternoon spot, but do they ever stick to it, nope. One thing that saved my sanity is reading diy books, as I realise, some of the things are easy enough to do myself. Or I will watch the tradespeople, for a look and learn. I recently watched them do a concrete slab from start to finish, and I believe I could do one on my own if I wanted to now. The most important part is the strong supports around the slab, that are to be firmly in place, once filled with cement. They did all the mixing of the cement in a wheel barrow. You could get all that sort of stuff delivered. Our giant hardware supplier runs free diy courses, on many things too. If you are interested in these, maybe you have them over there. Electrical and plumbers unfortunately, you really have to search for a good one, and stick with them. Perhaps ask your neighbours. But one thing I will say, that helps me, is I try and keep a maintenance diary, of things that need to be done, then set aside a whole week, for them all to be done within the same week I have off. Or better still, all on the same day. Once or twice a year. Anyway, have some of these <'> <'> its a bit like housework, never ending. x
  2. Hope you all have a great time. All the best Fran x <'>
  3. We'll what can I say. It isnt everyday you go to church with 24,000 people. there were so many moments, or laughter, laughed so much moved to tears, emotive stuff that had tears streaming down your face. Music that caused tears to stream down your face. Holding hands, dancing, jumping. At one moment I thought of the church scene in the Blues brothers movie where they have people doing somersaults on trampolines, well, that was the only thing missing. it was just a sea of arms, and doing the mexican wave it was awesome. If it comes to London, gosh beg steal borrow, just go. If it is your sort of thing. The music and conference is already all over youtube, if you want to watch. My daughter is compiling a video of videos and photo's. I made some excellent movies holding my camera the wrong way, ah derrrr I might post one or two if the mods think its okay. Otherwise pm me if you would like to see some funny home movies we took and photo's. One very moving thing was that 10,000 displaced orphans from Uganda now have sponsors. I already have one. But my daughter had a desire to be one of those, a women with a thousand in a basket came by and my daughter said she had to take one, saying G will find a way. I will make compromises so I can make it possible. Pack my lunch instead of buy it etc, she said. She was full of negativity when I brought home my one from a previous conference, but this time she said, she understood, why I need and now she felt she needed to make the effort to help the lost and broken. Her little girl is a five year old orphan. We both feel we came away different people. It is hard not to come away changed from a week like that. Anyway, if any of you have any questions about it. Or any of the speakers, you are welcome to pm me if you want to know anything about it, rather than talking about it here on the open forum, would be best. I am still winding down from the closing extravaganza tonight, the music and light show was truly incredible. If you want to experience this sort of thing, pm me, I believe it is happening over there too. Anyway, need to process it all as you can imagine. In one word WOW!!!! Don't know whether to laugh, smile or cry, its a lot like that, over and over. xx <'>
  4. jo the second one is great, you just have to edit this one, or Baddad might spot it and fix it for you. keep posting yaayyy!!! edit: dont worry about me just realised your second post was a fix up job of this one.
  5. I loved the vid, they call that creative arts. Amazing where artists get their inspiration and ideas. I love this song, but its one of those songs that when you hear it, it gets stuck in your head. The girls were singing this in the car on the way home, hair brush singing, sometimes I wonder are they 16 - 19 or 6 -9 when they are together singing in the car. But of course I just listened. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SJdVnOOL1p8 I think the girls did an excellent job.

    DRIVEL...

Just popped in for a minute as I just got home. Did you hear Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had a baby girl, they called her Sunday Rose, only a day or so old and I heard that when they have a boy they are going to call him Monday Blues. Poor girl is already getting a roasting. Aussie's calling her Sunday Roast not Sunday Rose. Yeah I am sure this doesnt quite fit here, but, what they hey I am pooped. Thats my 2 cents worth for the rest of the week. Night all. Just adding, Sunday was her fathers grandmothers name, according to Nicole's brother.
  7. Just popped in for a minute, just got home we have one of those in Sydney and we pronounce it 'Grenn itch' curious how the pronounce it over there too.

  10. I forgot to add, my daughter is clocking up hours for driving lessons so this is perfect and a few of her friends drive, so I wont have to drive at all. Its like its all planned and I just have to sit back and enjoy. Except for the queue's it should be really good. The rest of the conference is in like theatre style comfort.
  11. Hi We have been planning this conference for months. Hillsong Conference. Bought the tickets last February. My son is off to SA. The way my health has been you would say I am crazy. But my daughter's heart is set on it. Sharing the driving with other families so its isnt like I am driving all the time. Wish me luck I think I will need it. Hopefully it will refresh my brain cells. Looking forward to opening night. As its in a stadium the music is unbelievable. We have had the warmest winter in 17 years so hope it stays that way. Rest from work and home is what I need. Take care, catch up with you soon. Love Fran xx.

  18. As this is pick on Fran time. I will let you in on a little secret. But before I start, get for violins as you listen to my poor me story. I have been quite ill since December last year. Its got much worse in the past three months and I have had to have the ambulance come twice. For severe anxiety attacks. I refused to go to hospital because I cant leave my kids. I am completely on my own. I have no help whatsoever. I have friends that help me but that is something I find very hard to accept. I hate my situation. I have noticed I have made many mistakes over the past few months. Especially more since I was put on anti depressants and anxiety tablets. I am having problems all the time with the shakes. I think I have had an emotional breakdown. But I am holding it together as my kids only have me. One of the reasons I was put on the meds was my daughters annual tests are coming up and I have so much more to worry about with her health than my own. It seems there are a group of women on here who are misunderstanding my intentions and take all my posts to heart and too seriously. I believe it is a case of Aussie / UK lingo, misunderstanding each other. I dont sit on my bum all day much to your comments and have a holiday everyday. I have many responsibilities but I dont feel I have to justify what my day comprises of. But because of my current health situation I am struggling especially the past three weeks. I dont need more stress, as is going on in this thread. I am not looking for sympathy, just asking for you to give me a break. Stop targeting me. Enough said. Fran.
  19. Oh, thats gorgeous. I love those moments with the kids. Worth their weight in gold. Just hearing them laugh makes me feel so good. That was a lovely moment. Thanks for sharing Karen <'>
