  1. Thanks Yes with the Hygiene issue i do agree. too much will not do anyone any good. I am not a dettol Enthusiast so I don't have to worry about that too much
  2. i'm on enough of the damn things and still don't have anything! LOL although as it stands I might be in a relationship in 2012 with my best friend who is a single mum (she's 19 and has two kids, great girl and I love the babies)
  3. it's easy in my house. I have all the colorful ones. Mums always look feminine and dead small so that is already a good hint... and dad's socks are normally the smelliest and have the most holes in anyway (due to work boots) Plus I also have girogio armani socks which are also mine as dad wouldn't wear anything like that, lol
  4. also notice the riffs of the last song and this song which I also listen to a fair bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjyKRRJQEpU
  5. I have gone big on Nirvana and listen to them loads, here are some of my Favourites:
  6. Hi all, Christmas has been and gone now but i have had time to reflect on a few things especially revolving around busy places. Firstly, we know shopping areas are really busy around xmas, and I seem to think I cope really well considering I have AS and go out on my own now (well I am 19!) but sometimes I just feel out of it and feel i need like someone to guide me through sort of thing. when it gets really busy in the Highcross shopping centre (nearest one to me) I am aware whats going on but not aware, like I am subconsciously carrying on. I sometimes on the odd occasion start feeling ill and sick because my mind isn't with me, if that makes sense. I also sometimes feel like sitting down on the floor with my head in my knees trying to get away from it. How i manage to function in those situations is beyond me. I know the obvious thing to do would be avoid that area but thing is A lot of the time I cannot avoid busy places either due to a shop i need to go to or a shortcut to a place i need to go. What do you do? I would like to know. it just seems like i am regressing from progress from when i was 15 instead of progressing.... and it's dragging a bit.... the other thing is buses. I LOVE buses, absolutely LOVE them, everything, the engines, the controls, bodywork you name it I know it. This means I enjoy riding on buses in Principal. I have experienced recently, a few service changes which means the buses are busier due to a drop in frequency of buses and I am starting to struggle a lot with buses. I know it is public transport but when I get on a bus I don't want anyone sitting next to me, I don't know them, what germs do they carry, what if they smell horrid? (and some do ) If I shift over i am stuck next to the window and I feel I can't escape, like I'm trapped.... I sometimes sit on the side facing seats but this now even makes me ill so I have to stop that... Do any of you get a similar thing and how do you cope with it??? And lastly..... Some of you might hate me talking about this due to the germ relation to it (I know many ASD's are ''weird'' on the topic' but how do you cope with public toilets? This is something I struggle with an awful lot. luckily I don't live in the 80's so I already know that I won't get aids from the toilet seat (I was taught this in humanities many moons ago, lol) but When you go somewhere and there is urine over the toilet seat. pubic hairs and skids in the loo, what do you do? (rhyme not intended lol) If you have to do business you have to do it.... its got to the point where I carry antibacterial wipes with me and wipe any toilet seat I come across before using it. I don't know if any of you do the same, but I am starting to think I am a bit of a Germaphobe??? anyways it's late so peace out
  7. it is interesting such things are legal... quite interesting really!
  8. yeah it's just like speed then.... I don't do anything like that whatsoever, But I know a fair few who do and its interesting to talk about the effects they get. as much as they are harmful, from a scientific point of view i find stuff like that fascinating, and how certain chemicals react in different ways with the body! if you want stimulants and have a sweet tooth, drink Monster, good stuff that is.
  9. I love The Jam, listening to compact snap at the mo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAXeUKPwBj4 also it's Eton Rifles....
  10. Thanks mate, It certainly is interesting the bronchitis bit. that is likely from the fact I have had severe Bronchitis before about two years ago which basically laid me out for two weeks, believe it or not, it was two weeks this coming Tuesday that it started!! also, i do drink, sometimes smoke cigars but that's just for nights out and when i am with my band. I don't do drugs. I am firmly against them. personally I don't see the point in getting high, I know we can't read too much into these things sometimes but it is an interesting perspective for definite thanks again,
  11. holy malteasers, batman, i forgot to reply! That's fine mate, whenever you have the time, it's cool thanks for doing this for me
  12. i keep looking for work, not much success though due to the job market. it could be that i am not sure. also looking for a partner as well so it could always be related to that i suppose... but it could well be the job, you could be right there. I have a nice job now, but I am always on the lookout and on edge waiting for that letter or phone call to say im on the next step towards another job.
  13. well either you would be seen as sensible because you wouldn't complain about it since it was your fault, or people would think you were completely bonkers for having an argument at yourself... I remember being at my old school back in '05 and we had some games in a cupbaird on the top shelf. I went to put them back, and missed the shelf, so i had dominoes smash on my head braking the wooden box!!!!, followed by scrabble and ironically, the boggle caused me much boggle as it hit me on the head hardest, man those things are heavy had a sore head for a few hours after.... i was feeling scrambled
  14. my mum saw it go overhead in the sky the other night!!! i have been hit on the head by a full water bottle containing stones which hit me on the head when i went by a bus full of schoolkids on my bike, needless to say i told the bus driver and they were walking home after that!!! anyway i wouldn't worry too much, think about it, 70% of the earth is actually water. also despite the high population of the planet it is in centered areas thus it is unlikely that it would hit somewhere massively populated... now that iv said it.....

    Eurgh!!!!

I think Kathryn meant the clothes not the mouse, LOL! I suppose you could wash the mouse and put it back in the basket or something as a halloween decoration, idk... we had the attic converted about 3 years ago or something into a storage space and a hobby type room where the model trains are.... every now and then we find loads of bird droppings over stuff, the first time we investigated we found a rotting sparrow. they manged to get in through the eaves.... so if we see bird droppings (which we clear up anyway) we normally know something died in there...
  16. thought I would share this with you. sorry in advance for spelling mistakes and such, i took it from my MSN conversation, edited it then spell checked it, only problem is my spell checker put some weird stuff in I'm not sure... cut to the chase.... I was seriously ill in hospital. One minute I am sat in an office with a doctor, all I can remember is him saying there is something wrong with my lungs. I mention bronchitis and he says it’s developed on that, he then said you won’t be out of here for a while. I remember the corridor vividly, it was very high ceilinged, quite narrow, about 10 to 12 feet wide, late Victorian building and horrid prefab like doors (like schools have). I remember leaving the office, closing the door, and walking to my right as if I came out the door. Then randomly, out of nowhere, I was in a bed, laid up, propped up, covered in blankets and stuff, naked chest with wires hanging around. I remember feeling like I was stabbed in an arm with something, so I say it was a painkilling injection or something. I then remember fading in and out of consciousness, then I came round. I managed to remember the date and noticed I had a shift, but without my rota sheet (HOW???). So I ran out of the hospital with the wires attached, I felt no weight, I just knew I was running. All of a sudden the scene changes, I’m in hoodie, my white boots, t shirt and jeans, but everything was torn and tatty. I was at work but work looked different. It was older, bigger, and darker, with never ending staircases. I then found the door to the office. I saw my boss, I said I was ill, I shouldn’t be there and he said that fine we will still pay you. Then everyone walks by me like a ghost, like I don’t exist, they were all solemn, all frowning. The corridor was dark and stuff, then as I left down the stairs, I tripped and fell landing into a void and face planted on the floor against a wall. I broke several bones and it was weird, I could FEEL the pain, I couldn't move and I could feel that. Then it just like snapped and I woke up.... Weird or what?
  17. I'm with BD on this one. it don't add up for me, and that's coming from an Aspie who did sociology at A level and still retains such a high interest in the matter. please note the following point; the article is clearly titled with the phrase 'overcome the condition'this in itself makes a huge difference from what we thing as people and what we perceive the article to say but it also tells us that it is a study which for the majority of will reek of bovine by product, as it is already telling us something we already know. from what I gather, Like some of the other contributors in this thread, is that this study is in fact showing that 1 in 10 children/people with autistic conditions (saves me writing all those abbreviations in that article) can be, let's say, 'trained' to not exhibit certain behaviours or natures, which to me isn't really overcoming the condition in it's true sense. it is overcoming the condition, but what one has to realise, step back and dwell on is that fact that this is only short term unless long term support (and the correct support at that) is provided to keep this up. on a whole, it really does depend on the child, that is another problem that I find with these reports and study cases. A lot of these cases ignore the fact, or do not factor into their statistics, that the way one asperger's child will behave will be different from another asperger's child. I'm A-typical Asperger's and if you stuck me in the room with an asperger's child yes, certain behaviours would remain the same, admittedly, but I would perhaps do things or exhibit different behaviours in some areas. this then raises more questions on validity. if the above paragraph is taken into true context, then how can this study be valid at all? (Of course, If I get the opportunity to read it, I shall do so) because if you can't measure autistic progresses and behaviours in a standardised way, which i will admit is quite difficult, then how can you have a reputeable report which says that XYZ is the answer when it could be FGH which is?? the way the medical world diagnoses children with ASD/AS and all that have that set criteria from the studies of hans asperger and such other researchers from years ago, what it doesn't do is say what those little differences between two kids are, if you get me???? Anyway it will be interesting when the report is complete and it is published publicly for all to see. bbkr
  18. In which case, you will need the new key to reset it. they will likely do it at the garage when you have a new key, or they will send some chap round in a little van with a computer and do it that way unless your car is under warranty or some deal with that dealer, I wouldn't take it there, Everytime my family has ever taken a car to the big name's garages, trouble ensues. we now use an independent garage my auntie used to use, and we have never had any problems with taking the cars there.... weird.... or is it?
  19. stay strong, seek psychological advice, you have got to stand up say no to them and say this is what i want etc, you have to make a stand, that's how my family have always ended up getting me and my cousins the help we needed, last time my mother had to fight with the doctors and such, I was also making a stand myself (i know that isn't always possible). sounds generic i know, but there is always hope and everyone has it in them to make a stand and get what their child needs
  20. cheers BD, yeah I will try it, the more the band progresses the more this naturally happens anyway, which in itself is amazing!! L&P to you to my friend, BBKR
  21. what a ruddy mess thats about. luckily i read all the terms and conditions so know my rights very well indeed, so no harm to me, but just signed up to plenty more fish... worth a shot.... get your profile sorted all that lark... then to send a message you need to pay for the privilege..... GAHHHHHH! whoever came up with this bull.... capitalism is a real nonce. I was making a sensible move, i don't get much chance to meet people and stuff and all i want to do is go on a few dates... anyway yeah rant over.... so any other alternatives, and don't say wait and you will find someone, cause i'm about ready to fire a missile in the direction of the internet if i hear or read that one more time, lol! it's just such a nightmare.... really is i'm either stupid or forgot my medication today... lol edit: the filter doesn't like my ''offensive'' language, however i used a swear word and it didn't block it...
  22. sounds like this guy is a typical stuck up. make a stand, go into the staffroom/ mess room/ mess hall or whatever you have and just sit down, nod politely and smile break your way into it, I would, the guy has more than likely portrayed you as something you are not, which is not a good thing and i hate people who do that, so prove him wrong you can do it
  23. i think a scheme would be great for young adults, I have noticed a severe lack of schemes for people over 18. Myself, I probably don't need a support dog just as much as a pet one tbh.... I am at the point now where I am comfortable most of the time being out with friends on my own, however there are many a time when i feel very uncomfortable with being out on my own, for example, at night when walking home from work or band practice, and sometimes when there are rough looking 'chavs' (to find for a term) walking around in groups. it does scare me. Public transport doesn't bother one bit, i just talk to the bus drivers!! I am going on about myself here, but am doing it for a sake of an example. it seems i don't have much use for a support dog, unless people say otherwise.... so i think it is sometimes a case of if there was a scheme for support dogs from the age of 16 upwards, i think it would help asd's and asperger's and such become more familiar with the common world on a steadier basis rather than having to pull up the courage themselves and do it, like i did. I only did because i dodn't have an alternative and the family at the time was in dire straights.
  24. for the local one I would be subject to an assessment (in other words an interview) and a doctor's note before receiving a pass, but it would only cover Leicester I think.
