    change of statement

Thankyou I shall try some of these I have never heard of these places before.
  2. I am feeling quite confused, my son had been given a statement a few years ago and it was put that he should go to a special school 30 miles away, I felt that this would be to much for him and his autism was not severe enough to be sent off so far away to a special school, he enjoyed his school as he had been there for 3 years. so we appealed against the decision and requested that he could stay at the local school and the statement came back as him only being allowed 1 hour of support a day. How can the two statements about the same child be so opposite? has this happened to anyone else. how do you get the correct level of support or is it really either or?
  3. 5. they are great arent they, we did well from it aswell. you can apply every year i think or every two years?
  6. i have a problem with my thyroid to, i have just been for a scan and having other bits done, i got a book about the thyroid gland from the chemist and in that book your symptoms match up to graves disease, but obviously i have no idea, the doc should be able to do bloods for that i think and then you will no, if your thyroid is overactive and you have lost loads of weight as i did very quickly, the blood tests should show if its overactive they would you something for it and apparently you put the weight back on. i dont know if this makes any sense i have a toddler climbing all over me

    AS Parents

Hi, I come from a large family, my grandad had aspergers, my mum has, my cousins, my brothers 4 of them, have it, my dad doesnt, I do and my partner does, i have three boys and they do, so i never new any different i was brought up as one, amongst them, i became friends with people like me, my kids are amazing, we only all recently and independantly went through diagnosis, my mother as well, we are all bright and there are teachers in my family we have all been to university and are gifted and talented a bit wierd or excentric perhaps. I wouldnt change any of my family and i would not choose to be normal? if i could be. i would have more children if i hadnt had a bad third pregnancy, and i dont see the extra care i have to give to everyone especially the night times as being a drag or a problem, and also my kids are happy they love life and its brilliant, having kids was the best move ever.. sorry for rambling but its true
  10. every three years for 6 months at atime over the last 14 years, and only just realised its because we are on the spectrum to not just the kids, and no one in our house has been able to fully understand each other propery all this time, now we all know what we have got each we can work around it.
  11. Hi I got diagnosed via my university, I was struggling with my dissertation and went to see the counselor there cos i was misserable, i talked about my attention problems etc etc, and she sent me to see the student support staff who said i needed an assesment with the educational psychologist at student support, they gave me an urgent app, i got assessed, it took hours, and four days later he explained what was wrong, aspergers dyspraxia and dyslexia and erlens syndrome, he is typing up my official diagnosis ans sending it to the lea, and i am qualified for the disabled students grant, with this you dont lterally get any money but you get eqipment that comes to a few thousand pounds, desk , 700 quid chair, laptop software printer etc etc, well worth it and fast diagnosis, then help from the ed psych, plus one to one tutorr help...so if thats what you meant do it through uni, as you can only qualify for the disabled student grant through your uni, and alsoeven with diagnosis, you will have to do it again in this way anyway
