  2. Hi I have read on one of the threads on here that tony attwood has a book...AS:a guide for grandparents. Does anybody know where i can get a copy. I had a bot of a breakdown the beginning of the year, no-one accepted my sons dx and i just cracked. Anyway as a result my fiances parents now want to get clued up on it and have been told this is the book to get! Any ideas....please
  3. Hi Bailyj Big <'> to you. My son has just started the kicking/pushing and hitting. I am nearly always called in after school to be told of his latest antics, they now phone me at home to tell me when he has done something'naughty' at school. I think that making it a game like someone above mentioned seems like a great idea.....being a newbie it is something i certainly wouldnt have thought of....roll on the parent training courses and then hopefully i will have some useful advice. Good luck with your little one.

    im eating too much

Hi hev <'> Well you are certainly not alone on this score! All my life i have been a nice svelt size 12.....that was until callum was dx with AS. From then on it has been a constant battle with food and as a result am now a 16. It's been a horrible viscious circle, the more i put on the more i ate to comfort. Anyway finally after a few months of eating and crying i went to the DR's and was dx with depression. Knocked me for siz as i am normally life and sole of the party and now i barely leave the house unless it is to pick callum up from school. I didn't want to go on tablets so she advised on natural things to see how it goes. Well i have started yoga, and i can say it is fantastic, really makes you feel positive. I now walk my son to school and daughter to nursery (an hr round trip). This alone is making a big difference to how i feel and i now feel my mood lifting, not much but it's a step in the right direction. I have been advised to take the St John's wort supplement as this is good for depression.....apparently, i haven't tried it as yet. Now at t-time i have a smaller plate and do smaller portions for myself as i was always having the same as my fiance. I have now stopped eating after 7pm. and finally i have changed from white bread/pasta/rice to wholemeal. It was hard at 1st especially with the pasta and rice so i started mixing white and whoemeal to get used to the taste and gradually weaned myself of the white....god it's like being a baby again!! Will keep you informed how i get on...only started monday! Keep your chin up, it's a hole you will get out of. I have my 30th and my own wedding coming up so if that isn't enough insentive i don't know what will be.....here goes.....
  5. Agree with above.....ignore (if it's possible at all...i know it depends whre u r!). If it continues though, have a read up on tourettes syndrome (at least i think that is what is called) i'm not sure if the info i have is actually correct as am new to all this myself, but believe its all part of the ASD. I look at www.autism.org.uk Hope it helps if you haven't already discovered it!
  6. Hi, ur lucky ur son will take capsules, my son won't go near them, i have to give him liquid form. If it's any help to you, haliorange omega3 fish oil contains the following..... DHA 300mg EPA 150mg Certainly trial and error with this isn't it!! Tina
  7. <'> A big thank you to you all for making me feel sooooo welcome........gonna have a good look at the site now so i can use to it's full potential! Tina
  8. Hi stressed out mum Hope this gets to you ok...it's my 1st reply! I am relatively new to all this, but the other day i was listening to radio 5 as they had a dr on there discussing ASD and the supplements recomended. She was saying the mistake people make is that they get something with Omega 3 but forget about the other important one...Omega 6. She commented on that the ones to go for would be those that are high in DHA and EPA. The ones that had been tried and tested were in fact eye Q, when i looked into getting this for my son it recomended doubling the dose for the 1st 12 weeks to get the essential oils into the system, only after this time bring it down to the required amount. I currently give my son Haliborange, hes had it for about 2 mths now and i am starting to notice a slight difference in his concentration. I am in the process of trying to get DLA, if the application gets accepted i will certainly try the eye q and c if doubling it for the 1st 12wks really does help. It's just so expensive that it is not a possibilty at the mo. Don't know if it helps you with your question, just thought i would let you know what i did, unfortunately very little at the mo!! I don't know if you can view the discussion on-line or not? www.bbc.co.uk/radio5 Good luck with the supplements, you will have to let me know if it works!
  9. Hi A door has finally opened and led me to this forum.....hallelujah! You all seem such wonderful caring people and hope you have room for a newbie?? I have read a lot of your posts this morning and i can't even begin to tell you all what a relief it is to know i am not alone and that any feelings (been some pretty awful ones of late i can tell you) seem to be the norm. Seems strange, but it feels like a lot of the weight has been lifted. Anyway let me introduce myself, may name is Tina and i live in Berkshire. I have 2 children and the eldest who is 6 has recently been diagnosed with AS. I can't tell you how much of an emotional rollercoaster it has been ever since! Anyway after reading numerous books, ploughing through loads a websites i finally came across you kind people. Anyway i hope to become a regular.....so hopefully this is the 1st of many posts!
