    Holiday Snaps

Hi everyone. I thought i would call by with some holiday pictures. The Holiday was a success, but kieran did get ill during the second week, i think by then he was been affected by the change of everything (food and routine especially). But all in all the lake district is a beautiful place. I have about 500 pictures, but i didnt think you would appriciate all those, lol, so here are a selection of our favorite days. Kieran in grizedale forest http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0568.jpg Holding rabbits at duckys park farm http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/IMAG0478.jpg Kieran aboard the train. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0690.jpg Happy day at fell foor park http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0463.jpg Stranded in coniston http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0286.jpg Lakeland miniture viliiage http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/IMAG0571.jpg Through the trees at Two Tarns http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0772.jpg Dad and liam at Two Tarns http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0786.jpg Two Tarns http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0767.jpg All aboard the swan http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0716.jpg Dad and Liam on the way down "the old man of coniston" http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0613.jpg A View from coniston http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0269.jpg Some very cute swans and their babies http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0505.jpg Shauna at Lakeland Miniture Villiage http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0192.jpg Liam after swimming http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0554.jpg Two Tarns on a rainy day http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0740.jpg two tarns again lol http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...gu/HPNX0511.jpg Let me know what you think of them. Speak soon. shaz x P.S here is a slideshow. I hope.
  2. Hi everyone, its only me again. <'> Ive got a touch of P.H.J..... (Pre Holiday Jitters) , we go away on saturday to the lakes for 2 weeks, the weather forecast is horrendous for the next couple of days and kieran refuses to go to school in the rain, so im really pushed for time to get this plan done which ive promised our party of 7. (me, hubs, kids, and my mum and dad). I am supposed to be doing it so we know excactly where to visit once there to give kieran an idea of what to expect.. anyway to cut a long story short, We are going to be staying at a caravan park on a small haven site (Lakeland) in a place called Flookburgh. and i wondered if anyone had any experience of the area and if so what would you suggest we visit? We have a problem with mobility because my mum can hardly walk (she has a buggy thing, but mountain climbing is out) added to that kierans dodgey with his legs right now, shauna has only just got over blood poisoning in her foot, so im desperate for ideas what i can do with everyone if it pours down. I have spent every spare minute at the computer doing a little "plan of action" and i was doing really well until the <insert rude word here> thing crashed and the recovered document had lines through it all that i could get rid of, AND it had wiped out ALL the directions i had sorted out. So now im knackered and am loathed to start it all again. so, if you have any ideas where to visit in this beautiful area of the country i would be most grateful. personal experiences welcome. But im looking for places no more than an hour away from cumbria as all 3 of my "Ahem" angels have extreamely bad travel sickness and i have to drug them up if we go to far. This is another thing, ive tried every remedy going, each myth tried in the hope it works, but not a chance, we have to go everywhere prepared for the worst. Its like a military operation......... Im babbling again I do apologise. Thanks for listening. Shaz. P.H.J Sufferer - self diagnosed today.
  3. Well with that info hun i think you should take it further, i still stick by my origional decicion - it would be helpful and benificial to make this idea a reality. Take care sallyaspie and let us all know if you get in touch with anyone. shaz
  4. thanks for this info kathryn. the ehlers danlos syndrome has answered so many questions. I checked it out on google, and unbelivably in trying to work K out i have managed to diagnose myself. lol. As a child i was excessively bendy, and even now i am more bendy than others, but i never connected this with K's probs at all, until i read the above named syndrome. Basically, i dont heal normally, i seem to heal the wrong way wround and also have lumpy (ball bearings) in my wrists and shins. This apparently is common in people with E.D.S. Strange world eh. (so once again BLAME MUM <'> shaz x
  5. Hi Jules. He has had ortotic supports in his shoes for 3 years now, and as you say without them his ankles look really strange. thanks for all your replies. shaz x
  6. hi cattub Your initial post was very similar to what i wrote back in 2004 when i first joined. Even the fraud bit. I think we have all been at the place you are at now and we will all be on hand to answer (if we can) any questions. Nothings to obsqure here. and believe me things that you thought were quirky and unique behaviours are quite common on here, i was amazed to find that K (8 AS) wasnt the only one who liked to spin around a bathplug (or something similar) for an hour at a time. Welcome aboard. <'> shaz x
  7. P.S What happened to you, sorry forgot to ask in last post. <'>
  8. That is a brilliant idea. i understood this post immediatly. Hubby was tempted to say "It wouldnt be fair" but when i explained it to him he also thinks its a brilliant idea. My son can sniff out another aspie from a social setting and play "individually" / "together", for hours. leaving me talking to the parents of the other child and discovering that her child also has the condition, so i know that if you put 13 aspies in a room together they would understand each other instantly. Yet ADD the NT, and for once its going to be his/her social skills that are going to be useless It would be intersting to see what else an NT could rely on in this situation. Yes love it. I think it would be very sucsessful and a must see for others to understand this condition totally. A Brilliant Idea for Autism Awareness would you say? <'> shaz
  9. Lol. the legs didnt mind at all - afterall they had just climbed the cupboard to raid the contents. so i got the pics whilst he was munching on his findings. I didnt think there were any physical symptoms???? what else do they all have in commen that we thought were unique??? makes you think doesnt it. Thanks for your replies. shaz x
  10. Hi everyone. I thought since the weather was sooooo foul here today i would sit here and pretend there isnt an outside world. I thought instead that i would update you all on what life has thrown at us over the last week or so. To start with, shauna (who you may remember has been very poorly with Blood Poisoning) is making a great recovery, it looks like her foot is mouldy but at least all the reddness has gone now. Still on the antibiotics for another week but she is been very very brave. The other news of the week is that we had a hospital appointment yesterday to discuss K's Legs (pictures added to save explaining)....... http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mamapingu/kslegs.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mamapingu/kslegs2.jpg Anyways, the doc had a good pull and tug at him and said the problem is more with lax muscles and ligaments and not with a deformity of his bones, which is great news because we were dreading him having to have an operation. On the negitive side, apparently all of his joints are affected which we didnt realise and this gives him "arthiritis type pain" which are the cramps he describes. the leg lenght difference will be monitered over a year and a decicion will be made about that in due course. The doc went on to say that K's problem is associated with the autism, and it is one of the few "physical features" of the condition. I know it has been discussed here before but i just wanted to ask (once again) how many of you/yourloved ones have this problem. The doc was bending his joints in some unimaginable ways yesterday which made me cringe, but K never batted an eyelid. Ill have to cut this short now (i was going to talk about our garden looking like a lake) As there is a rather soggy looking cat staring at me with huge eyes which say FEED ME. so ill come back later. I hope you are all well. take care shaz x
  11. Hi There. The doctor said she does have an infectiion, and the "tracking" is the start of blood poisoning, but she has given her 10 days of penicillin to try and stop it going any further. thanks for your replies, in fact thank you for always been here (there) when i need to talk. She is feeling ok at the moment, i will keep you updated on her progress. <'> Shaz x
  12. Hi everyone. My DD (10) has been unwell since friday. sickness and the 'other end', very high temp and basically "tummy bug poorly" the sickness has now stopped but the temperature remains. i tried to get a doctor to see her yesterday but she told me to wait another 24hrs in case it was a plain and simple tummy bug. but today i noticed a red line streaking from the verucca that she has on the bottom of her foot. I have phoned the doc again and she is calling me back, but i just wanted to ask your advice whilst i was waiting. i have taken a picture of the affected foot. please can you let me know if you have any idea of what this could be. im dreading it been blood poisoining. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mam...shaunasfoot.jpg thanks shaz x

    Pictures of Jess

Funny you should say this, that was the first thing i did the other day as soon as the pet shop opened. lol. although i bet they thought i was crazy because i thought i would have a laugh with them first and walked in and asked for a "cat suit" the lady asked what i meant, so in all seriousness i said "y'know those cat suits with all the bells on, velcro fastener, slip it over the cat like a jacket and it rings when it walks".. The woman was gobsmacked but i couldnt hold the giggle any longer and promtly asked for a plain and simple collar. Hehhee. im a swine. lol shaz

    Pictures of Jess

hi everyone. i have to rush this message a bit as i am needed upstairs, (sicky tummy bug invaded this weekend) but since its taken me all night to remember how to log in and use photobucket i thought i might as well finish what i set out to achieve, and that is a couple of pictures of our adopted puddy cat "jess". We are officially adopting her on the 14th of july. the reason been we are going to abandon her for a couple of weeks due to a holiday, we have asked a few people to come at different times of the day to play with her and feed her and we figured if she hung around for us we will welcome her officially into the family, at the moment we are still asking around to see if anyone has lost such a young cutie. (although i was cross with her the other day for devouring a bird in front of the kids - - and to top it off, to say "sorry" she brought me another bird later which was still clinging to life) anyhow pics are here. (hope it works) http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mamapingu/jess.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mamapingu/jess1.jpg and the last one is not of jess but of cloud formation taken by liam, he loves taking pics of the sky and with this picture i can see why. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h146/mamapingu/cloud.jpg gotta go guys let me know your views on the kittie. (and the cloud) Shaz xx P.S The cat coincedentally has excactly the same markings as our pet mouse who died a couple of years ago. and she acts just the same (hyper) how spooky is that. lol
  16. Hi There, Thanks summer and Bid. I will try and get a picture posted soon of her. Her name is jess. Kieran was really weary of her at first and refused to be in the same room as her, but he is now better with her now and likes to stroke her occasionaly. Thanks for all the advice i will try to follow that. Just one worry... what would you do in this situation.... Jess has wandered into our lives BUT we have had a holiday booked for 9 months and that is in 4 weeks, by that time she will be used to dropping by every day and we wont be here. as she only spends some of the day with us (and some of it with other neighbours) do i...... 1 ) Ask a neighbour / friend to make sure she is fed (i have resevations about this) 2 ) ask the RSPCA to take care of her (couldnt get in touch with them today to ask if they would do this) 3 ) dont go away any ideas on that one guys? i would hate to leave her knowing that we wernt here to cuddle her like she's used to. thankyou fellow cat lovers. shaz
  17. HI everyone. We have (sort of) adopted a cat. well its a kitten.... It was living in next doors greenhouse last week, and was very skinny, she is a little black and white one and seems to have been abandoned. the kids love her and she is so comfortable around this maddness which is our life. I would appriciate any advice on raising a cat. and all the topics that go with them. Like what to watch out for in the line of worms and illness. (she really skinny with a big appitite). Basically ive never had a cat and havent a clue how much to feed her and how many times a day, she looks healthier now but she is giving off some really smelly wind. I have been feeding her a sachet of 'felix' a day. am i doing the right thing??? Thanks guys. i hope you are all ok. shaz x
  18. Hi Madme. I managed to keep quiet during the first topic. Now im afraid i must say whats on my mind. This sounds like some sort of REGIMENTED ABUSE that would have been perfectly acceptable 40 years ago in a boarding school for naughty children. But NOT in a Special Needs School, where children are supposed to FEEL SAFE and have their needs met in the way of UNDERSTANDING. Sorry to shout here, but i think its appalling and i strongly advise you to go straight to the top with this. This needs to stop, all those poor kids in your sons house are suffering the same mental and emotional cruelty which if were to happen in our own homes the SS would be the first to take away the children. Do get in touch with other parents, i am sure you will find them just as appauled as everyone else and together you will be able to fight for what is the right care your children should be recieving. I do hope you can sort this out. but i feel so sorry for your son and the other kids, because this IS abuse. ! Take care Madme. I am thinking about you <'> Shaz
  19. Hi Flora. Ive Pm'ed you also. take care shaz <'>
  20. Hi There. Thanks for all your messages. your gardens sound lovely. I could really visulise some of your ideas. We already have an Arch and have made a start with some rose climbers. so hopefully that will make it bright. Thanks again for your great ideas, i am off to look for some of the plants you have mentioned. ........ EBay !! Thanks again. shaz x <'>
  21. <'> Hi Everyone. Im here with a question about sensory gardens, We are trying to transform the top of our garden (a nice space) into a place where everyone (kids and adults alike) can go and relax whilst at the same time having lots to look at and smell and see. (if you get the drift) Mainly it was supposed to be somewhere to relax but i would love to turn it into a sensory garden. We have made a start with a border of blue / green conifers and a wishing well water feature. but the ideas (and the money) has dried up for now. So my question Has anyone any ideas which sort of plants and flowers we should be looking to buy for a sensory garden. and .... any more ideas what i can put in there?? Have you done a sensory garden? any tips really <'> Also just a quick update on Kieran. We are still awaiting his orthapedic assessment (re- hips), but the good news is, we are on the first step of the ladder with the statement. (well everyone is agreed). Had parent partnership lady here this morning who thinks we have a strong case BUT warned it could still get turned down. Apart from that K is doing ok. Had a recent Bouncy Castle day (after 6 weeks of "how many hours till the bouncy castle comes"?) on monday, He totally bounced himself out (spent in total of 8 hours bouncing) but its calmed him down now. lol. Hope everyone else is well. love to you all. Thanks for been here. <'> shaz x

    Statement help

Hi Everyone. I have been reading the posts on statementing for a while now, and i wondered if anyone would be so kind as to share with me some of there experiences with the parent represention bit. I know (in a nutshell) what i need to include (with thanks to the posts so far) and i am trying to put together all the facts/reports etc. but im at a loss how it should all go together. If anyone has been down this path i would be ever so grateful if you would advise on how to put the PR together??? <'> thanks in advance shaz x
  24. Perfect answer caroline. ill second all that, Can i also say Mum22boys - i know what you are going through (as im sure most people here will), we have an identical situation here right now, today the school finally got back to me (after a fortnight of badgering) and said an intrim meeting was to be held on the 3rd may. they have finially agreed to back us (albeit the enthusiasm is very lame) but its taken years to get to this point - we started asking about Statutary assessment when he was in reception class, hes now in year 3. But one good thing is he went swimming today with the school and i was there to witness him been perfectly calm (even though water is his biggest love) he flapped a bit but followed every order and request in near silence. I was astounded how different he is at school to when hes at home. take care shaz
