  1. I watch the interview and the boy had a fit while they were filming The father was almost in tears. NAS Gavin Owen said that over 35,000 letters, emails, faxes and phonecalls were complaining about how people with autism were not getting the proper care they needed. It so unfair that parents have to go on National to get something that they are entitled. If they are saying there is such a shortage of SALT....well health professionals in general.....it must be money.... There was a survey done a few years ago asking students why they are doing certain degrees and not others....and alot of their choices came down to the careers advice they were given at school. The same survey look at why students with disabilities do not do certain jobs....and it came down to the college not spending money on amenties to help people with disabilities. ....we are living in the 21st Century and still have almost victorian attitude to medical care depending on where you live and how the health departments deals with people.

  3. ....sorry.... Already got a carer's allowance....my friend was telling me about a grant you can apply for ...just for carers...no means test apparently.... That why we can not go for the family fund... My friend mention you go thruogh social services... I was wondering if anyone else had gone for it and how they did it. It ok, will ask my key worker tomorrow. Thanks

  7. I was told that....only a few people in life can do these things well......... Drive a car to reasonable standard Swim all four strokes And ride a bike As each thing needs different skills I can do the swimming one and drive...
  8. Thought your posts were excellent about different situation.... My one is not one I am pride of....but I think we might have all felt it at one time....in Asda....only need a few things....so let T who was three walk around.....he spotted something he wanted....but only had enough money and time to get milk.....so he decide he was going to run away, making alot of noise.....fine you think....at the time I was waiting to go into hospital to have an op.....manage to grab him....before he really got into motion..... Had a group of women tuttering and saying the usual thing about behaviour etc..... I just snap...not sure out of agony or anger.... I think I said something like 'he has autism, and his behaviour is not always perfect.....what is your excuse.....' and stormed off....with no milk....and a child tuck under my arm..... Send S my partner out later to get the milk.....

  10. I watch this programme...and O who is 8 and AS got really upset....that his favourite presenter Richard Hammond was talking about Autism.... I was going to complain to the BBc....but he did not really do anything wrong.... Me and O had a chat..and he was fine....well he watch top gear on the Sunday...

  12. I am in the same positiion applying for jobs.... and always think my Cv looks sad compare to how it used to look..... BUT I wanted to change it...so started to Sudoku most papers carry a version of it....alot of websites have got it...and carol vorderman done a book... So i am not lying when i say i do Sudoku.... just not mentioning....not always completing them.... may look into doing a dress making course instead...more my cup of tea....lol
  13. Spend a good part of last year....trying to potty train T.... He reaches his fourth birthday.....when you can get free nappies.....two boxes delivery every eight weeks.....and he is dry during the day..... Typical........but fanastic news really..... Well Done T.....
  14. I have not been around for a while..... The last year of getting T statemented before attending School in September has exhausted my brain..... Well it paid off....T has got 25 hours.....and two support workers....which is really good for our local area. For all the people who recognise my name...I want to say hi.....for those that don't another hi...and for all the new members.....and a hi too! Thanks

  16. Only just seen this link... me and mr q thought the same so did my family so did my childminder so did lots and lots of my friends.... Eugene is our O in about 16 years time..... I was so pleased when it took the 50,000 grand.... I think Ant won...because he had the women's votes...the gaymen votes.....and probably most of the OK office on speed date for the whole week.... Can you imagine Eugene in their glossy mag..... I hope Eugene will be to radio as Jon Tickle is to Brainac...O fav programme.....

  18. I have two boys with DX O has AS and he is 8 T has ASD I think both have Aspergers....but waiting for Tom to attend school befoe I push for the diagnosed. We were told it does run in families.... I have notice the triats in family members..... ESP my partner sister....would never say it to her..... Mainly because of my boys...she has made a bit thing on giving her second single vacination because of MMR AND AUTISM LINK.... I ignore her alot cruel I know....but any excuse to talk about autism and how her son is not autism....though personally not entirely convinced..... Families.....partners families......they are so great...not
  19. I think she is jealous of your life..... I would just ignore her comments..... YOUR life sounds very much like mine.... Me and hubbie are really different.....we been together for 12 years....so we getting something right....we had a family for 8 years....our eldest has AS our children are all different...we all do different things.... Enjoy your family life........children soon grow up.....
