Hi my dd was dx'd at 13 with bipolar following several manic and depressive episodes. However she was also hearing voices and hallucinating, convinced that the voice was telling her to self-harm or kill herself. She could also describe the owner of the voice perfectly. Other than the hallucinations, her behaviour is very similar to any teenager, just more extreme, she seems to lose her inhibitions when she is on a high and can have many extremes of highs and lows in one day. I think the record was 4 lows and 5 highs in one day!!!! I think you really need to speak to a pyschaitrist, but try and find one who knows about bipolar. The good news is that if it is bipolar and diagnosed early, that with treatment, it will have a less severe effect in later life. Hi, sorry to but in like this! Risperidone is an anti-psychotic drug. My daughter takes it for bipolar disorder and its used in schizophrenia etc to control psychotic moods and behaviour. You need to make sure that you areprescribed liquid risperidone as it is a very powerful drug and tiny increases/ decreases can make a huge difference. My dd was on 0.5mg twice a day and it was increased to 0.6 twice a day and that small increase has stabilized her moods. Hope this helps and good luck!!

Hi raelian, what a wonderful poem, don't despair if he has got these 'problems'. modern medicine etc is progressing so fast now that there are many things that can be done to help. At the end of the day you have a wonderful and unique child who will bring you much joy and happiness inbetween the not so good times. Don't forget as well that you are not alone. <'> <'> <'>

good on you! It's really hard but keep up with it. I've been off them for 9 months now, so know how tough it is! If you need any extra weight I've got plenty spare!!!!
