Tilly Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Earlier this week a lady from FF came to visit and requested to see certain data and one of them was dd SEN statement. To tell you the truth I didn't know what one looks like even though dd has had one since she was 4. Could anyone tell me if the school has a copy or should I have one and if so what does it look like? Tilly
JsMum Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Its a A4 size piece of paper with your councils logo on with statement of special educational needs with the act on at the beginning, it then states name, address, school attending, transport, age, date of birth, statement date issued and then a breakdown of all the kinds of support offered to the child. it has a summary of the disabilities and why the child has a statement, and what band. Its an essential document and yes you should of been posted one, in the first proceedings you have a draft that you sign if you agree to the support offered and if the details are correct then they send you the final statement and is the same but a binding agreement. You should of recieved one and if you havent got one you need to get one, the school senco most defenately will have one, and the council where you are best in the SEN Department. You need to get your copy if you havent but its procedure that they send you the statement document. JsMum

helenl53 Report post Posted November 26, 2006 Statements are to be reviewed on an annual basis! This is a legal requirement! You should have had a copy to discuss along with the reports that are given for the Annual Review. You are supposed to contribute to this review. You should be invited to attend the meeing. Contact NAS or IPSEA if you need help with this. Hope this helps Best wishes Helen
