KateBall Report post Posted August 6, 2008 Went to the consultant paed today - SALT present also - and outcome was diagnosis for ds that he has ASD. No surprise but mixed feelings as I expected. Even to the extent I wonder if I should have pushed so hard for this - don't want my ds to be burdened with a diagnosis - but then he is burdened (and in many ways too blessed) with the ASD. It will mean we get better input in to school, more appropriate funding and help in directing them at senior school when he eventually goes. Also went to BIBIC again for reassessment and specialist SALT advised me to go for Statutory Assessment and has given me her details for the inevitable appeal she feels we will have to make. Feel like life begins again now or the next phase at least - more battles to come no doubt. Thank you to everyone here for support at various times - whether in posts directly to me or ones I've read on others topics. I have been able to stay focussed on getting a diagnosis because of others in similar positions reaching such an outcome. Good luck to all those who are still trying to get there - you will.
