LolaP1986 Report post Posted August 25, 2012 So I have been diagnosed as having AS. I really don't know what to say about it, because I'm not really sure how I feel. I feel really weird. I am hoping I will be able to get some help now, which I really need, especially now that I'll be starting a PhD.
Mannify Report post Posted August 25, 2012 I bet some people on here will be able to help with where to access stuff; there are some incredibly helpful people about. Can't be much help myself, but I am just aching to know about your PhD .

trekster Report post Posted August 26, 2012 Disabled Students allowance assessment, also disability benefit applications when you feel ready. Lots of books for girls/ladies on the spectrum and strongly disagree with AS Warrior a lot changes post diagnosis, your outlook on life, the way others react to you and various other aspects of your life. i stopped blaming myself for things i couldnt help and wanted to meet all the folks like myself. Also wished to help others like myself which i wouldnt be doing without my diagnosis/recognition of ASD.
Shnoing Report post Posted August 26, 2012 I had what you could call mixedfeelings after I had got my dx, for at least a year. I think the important thing to remember is that you are still you, and not just a label. I wish you the best with your thesis - I was there 12 years ago ... darkshine Report post Posted August 26, 2012 I still have mixed feelings too, it's been well over a year now - but it gets easier and the mixed feelings get less troublesome as it all sinks in - which takes some people more time than others, we all have our own pace
