lorryw Report post Posted April 6, 2006 After a great deal of thought and planning my friend and I decided to make the effort and attend a local Autism support group meeting. After sorting out husbands, offspring etc we trekked into our town centre and found the meeting place in complete darkness. The meeting appears to have been cancelled but nothing was posted on the groups all singing all dancing wonderous web site! We are both very annoyed but decided it was sort of typical of our lives. We could write a book about our experiences and disappointments with a variety of organisations over the years. And it was b****y cold out there! Loraine (and a glass of wine)xx

Flora Report post Posted April 6, 2006 lorry how disappointing. I think I'd be pretty miffed too if that happened to me. Do they have a number you could ring to ask why/what happened? stressedmum thanks for making me laugh. Was it a blonde or a stressed/tired moment? Malika Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Hi <'> Well it seems to be fairly typical as well because most groups are run by volonters and they do not have somebody to back them up. In mime the last one was that I received the letter telling me all about what had happened at the groupe while I never got the letter informing me of the time and date in the first place. Patience it is quite frustrating. Hope you did enjoye your time off in town... Malika.

Kazzen161 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 I know they are having Donna Williams to do a talk soon, so maybe they have changed the date. I think some Surrey NAS people were going to the meeting you were though, so it should have been on. Did you go to the right venue? I am reliant on the school we use - if they decide the room is no longer available - I have to ring round 15+ people! It is quite a hassle. I wish more people used e-mail.
