  1. Hi Best person to speak to is your health visitor and she will fill out the form for you. We had free nappies for DS1 from the age of about 3 i think until he was 5 and he didn't have a diagnosis back then.

    Optional SATS

Had a note in DS's home/school diary that they are off timetable this week due to "Optional SATS" (great another week where he doesn't know what's happening from one day to the next) Does that mean that the kids get to decide whether or not they want to do them or does the teacher decide who's doing them? any ideas?
  4. Hi Karen I've already downloaded the stuff for Sendist, just need some ink (DS ran the ink out again!) lol I have made a note of the date of the letter and i will be getting all the paperwork ready to appeal. I'm not surprised it's a no as i'm told our LEA is one of the worst in the country for saying no.
  5. Had a letter on Thursday, after coming home from a NAS Seminar about Sensory Needs. Our LEA said no to a statutory assessment on the ground that they do not think his needs are severe or complex enough although they did admit he has SEN, but feel that his needs are being met at school action + I rang the LEA to speak to the lady to be told she wasn't in, so i asked to be put through to someone else, the receptionist took my details and then i was put straight through to the lady that i asked for!!!!! unreal. Told her i wanted a meeting asap, so i have a meeting with the education officer at the school next week. I knew it would be a no, but you kinda hope they might see a bit of sense, after all how can they know if they won't assess?? mad isn't it!
  6. wow! well, my ds has been obsessed with plants since he was about 2, growing then, pulling them to pieces, pulling the roots of and thinking they will grow again, drawing them, he spends hours drawing them, we dont have many plants in our garden as we learnt along time ago that these will only get destroyed, he will be 10 this year, at the moment specifically it's pampass grass, tulips and daffodils, the particular focus shifts to things that are about in the seasons, but its mostly all plant related, but he has other passing obsessions, one is mr men, and roald dahl, he HAS to have every book althou he doesnt read them, just draws the covers over and over, and if we dont buy the book he finds it on the internet and either prints the cover or draws it himself
  7. My DS went to a couple of parties when he was in reception, but he rarely gets any invites these days, altho he isn't worried, because on the very odd occasion that he gets one, he tells them he is busy straight away so doesn't want to go anyway!!!! And i don't "do" major parties for the kids (i have 4 so it would get expensive) but they are allowed a friend round for tea, altho he has yet to invite anyone round on his birthday.
  8. After starting the stat process myself, i was asked into school today to sign their form off. They have tried to be as helpful as possible considering "they don't have any evidence" hmmm well anyway, at least they haven't just said no and are trying to support me! Looking at his assessment levels, they were mostly 2's - is this good or bad? what is the level for a 9 year old? LEA have said we will have a response one way or another by 28th April - so fingers crossed!
  9. Hi Further to me writing to the LEA requesting a stat assess, I've had a letter back today, enclosing a pink form asking for: a) brief (how do you do that) details of what i consider his special educational needs to be what discussions and provisions school have made c) wanting copies of reports i have obtained myself duh! thought i had already stated all of the above in my letter!
  10. Thanks all Will deffo let you know how we get on!
  11. Well, our letter to the LEA requesting a Stat Assess has gone off today, and with it, anything that i thought relevant! Im expecting for them to say no, and i will be ready when they do! Wish us luck anyway!!! lol
  12. Oh My Goodness!! It is so nice (in a weird way) to see that i am not alone! Our DS is jekyll and hyde and i have been having such a hard time convincing the school! I have told them time and time again that they are my biggest problem!! I must have told every teacher since he started there and only this he has finally been diagnosed with Aspergers, CAMHS have been brilliant (when we finally got to see them, we had a 2 year wait, and then another 2 years for diagnosis). Now my battle will be with the LEA!!
  13. Thanks for all that ladies. I have applied!! And I have informed CTC as well! will inform them again if i get CA

    VISUAL AIDS

lol I know about this site, it's my one pain in the bum because DS1 wants to print everything off it - purely because that is where his teacher gets all the bits and pieces from that are on the walls in his classroom, hence his bedroom looking like it!!!
  15. At Last! After applying for DLA back in November and it being refused, i asked them to look at it again and sent lots more information and asking them to contact DS's Dr! Got a letter today saying that they have changed their decision and he now gets the personal care at the middle rate!! Should i claim Carer's or will this effect the Child Tax Credit we get?
