  1. I am so ANGRY at everyone and everything! Most people are so mean and selfish, only care about themselves and there own. What a horrible world we live in.

Yes that will be interesting! My grandad, his great grandad died in January and he still doesnt seem to understand that either. He was talking about him today as if he was still alive...!

Children on the spectrum find it hard to understand their emotions.

My son told me "I don't know what a happy feeling is".

Sometimes this can be a processing difficulty ie. not processing what is happening in real time, and therefore not connecting emotions to events.

He should be assessed for emotional literacy and a programme put in place.

      Noskcaj86

hes only 4 and a half though, is this not normal for his age? he tells me when hes sad... if hes upset about not getting his own way hesometimes will say "mummy im angry at you" so he has some understanding of his emotions. He says he "happy" and also "not happy". But angry, sad and happy are the only ones he uses.

  3. Jack isnt himself today. No idea whats wrong as he doesnt say. He felt a bit hot earlier but other than that and being sleepy i am none the wiser... not sure if he will be ok for first day back at school tomorrow.

Have you looked into a respite holiday?

    4. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

We have been offered respite before, but it would have been a foster carer and im not keen on him going to strangers and i dont think it would do him amy good either... We have had a 4 dat break where he was with his nanny (thurs to sunday) But the stress starths up again almost as soon as hes home! x

I know you've said before you're not sure when he's ill - is it possible he has an ear infection or something? Has he maybe caught what the little one had? Problem too with not sleeping can also be the overtiredness factor!! Fingers crossed you get to bed soon x

    4. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

He seemed fine after the screaming but didnt go to sleep till 2 am! He always wants his dad next to him while he falls asleep, dad had been lying next to him in bad for about an hour and a half already and he wouldnt settle, dad had other things to do (non stop with 4 kids) so had to come down, thats when screaming started. So think it was to do with wanting his dad there with him, but he couldnt spend any more time up there last night x

  10. Had first asd diagnosis appointment today, Jack spent the whole time walking round and round the sofa with his hand over his mouth breathing heavily enough it made a grunting noise.... It was an hour long appt! Showing his true colours for them to see.

I remember first Paediatricians appointment with our son. There was the Paediatrician and 2 others and myself, husband and son. We talked about things for a while. My son sat on the floor playing with some toys that were there. He didn't interact with anyone. Didn't come and bring me anything. Didn't seem aware of anyone else in the room. Appeared deaf when the paediatrician called his name. And when she placed her hand on his shoulder to gain his attention he got very dis...

  17. My son is DANGEROUS!

    1. Lyndalou

      Lyndalou

What's happened - are you ok?

    2. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

Yea, nothing happened. I just meant hes a danger to himself. He had been walking on the curb, as if it was a tight rope and wouldnt listen to me saying it was dangerous because he was to close to the road and could easilt fall in to the road etc. I kept pulling him away but he went back again. Just worrying he still doesnt recognise danger even when i explain it over and over x

    3. lilbec

      lilbec

Remember he is only little still and from reading your later posts he IS unaware of danger. I would suggest doing something like holding his hand and walking a ways on the kerb then gently suggesting an alternative "tightrope" if you can find a line on the pavement. Try not to let him know you are feeling tense. That just makes it worse. My son always liked to walk on walls with me holding his hand.

When my son was 3 we had a loft conversion and the builders just could not...

  18. So frustrated with sons school again, they are not taking his learning problems very seriously... not sure what to do! Can just keep him there or keep him there and put back a year or move to a better school?!?!?!

    1. sesley

      sesley

What is not working for you and son? How would you like the school to support your son? Can you have contact with a advocate to support you, when you meet with the school?

    2. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

I would like the school to take his probably ASD more seriously, and to realise that it will be a life long condition and he will need extra support. I just feel they are not taking it seriously enough!

    3. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

I mean, they tell me hes delayed by 2 years in comparison to his peers in some areas, but hes not getting any extra support?????

  19. accidents nearly every day for the last week... HELP! Hes going to be 5 soon and still not there :( i want to give up and keep him in pull ups. Can not belive potty training has taken soooooo long, and still on going.

    1. sesley

      sesley

Be patient, it will take longer, but persistance and encouragement, he will be using the toilet.I got despondent, particularly the soiling bit, because he knew I woul clean him up, so I left him 30 mins dirty, then next day 1 hour , then he learn't after 2, then 3 hours how nasty it was.Toilet was the best thing he realised.

    2. Sally44

      Sally44

Alot of children on the spectrum have toiletting problems.

My own son was out of nappies by age 3. Now he is older he has explained to me that often he does not 'feel' the need for the toilet until the last minute. Also he has no idea if he wants a wee or poo and so can get caught off guard if standing up and then realises he needs to sit down quickly!

So I believe it is tied alot to sensory processing [as all internal sensations are from sensory information being proce...

  20. Jack has a fever today :( great timing! He doesnt tell us when he's unwell so its guess work. Hes had calpol but still has fever 38.5 I hope he doesnt end up in hospital over Christmas

My Finn is the same he peaked last night at 39.5 and is now sitting in low 39's - horrible them being ill especially at Christmas when this is the first Christmas he's had a clue what's going on.

    2. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

Yea its not fair! Jack seems ok in himself, bit quieter than normal but ok. Going to keep an eye on him and keep him dosed up on calpol :) hope they are both feeling better soon!

We are seeing social services disabled childrens team for assessment and also assessment for free nappies for Jack on 4th, then paediatrician is discussing him in her meeting with other doctors on 6th... and following that meeting we have been told he will be put on the asd diagnosis list to be diagnosed FINALLY! Its only taken 3 years to get this far... so it will be a relief when its all over and we can move on :)

  23. The important paediatrician meeting about jack was held yesterday, not heard anything yet...

  24. Over the moon to announce that Jack has stayed dry all day today! This is the first time ever :D

      Lyndalou

How's it going? Must be a relief to get over that hurdle...it was for us :-)

    2. Noskcaj86

      Noskcaj86

Its going ok, still having accidents but also making it to the toilet other times without needing to be asked :) but night time wetting still happening every night so that will prob take a while yet. What age did your son manage to stay dry in the day? Jack is already 18 months later than his older brother was, he was dry without accidents at 3 yrs. x
