Never heard of one of those so I'm off to google! Souds like you had great fun at that would be theif's expense!
  2. One nephew always called aeroplanes ombidanes, we still use that word 12 years later. In a certain shop my other nephew really did it to my sister in law! Mummy, mummy look F***ing roller, F***ing rolller! She left the shop very quickly and was very embarrased. This went on for a few vissits to the shops until one day she was in the toy section and the was a line of Thomas the Tank Engine stuff. All the time he had been excited about seeing the Fat Controller!
  3. Rebecca has no idea about idioms, the other day stopped the adult she was talking to in her tracks! Conversation: "Why is your son angry?" "Oh don't worry about him, he got out of the wrong side of the bed" Instantly Rebecca replied "Oh did he hurt himself?" Hubby said the look on the mother's face was a picture! During her CELF assessment the SALT touched on idioms and asked Rebecca what it meant when some one was "like a fish out of water" To her it meant bad tempered as "the fish would be really angry"
  4. As wall paper I have a picture of my three children that is 9 years old on my account on the laptop, they look so cute all cuddled up on the sofa! Screen saver is photo's from the albums over Rebecca's early years as that is when we went digital. Hubby has a mountain landscape that he took on holiday last year. Screen saver is enterprise control panels The boys change their wall paper regularly. I think they have bionicles at the moment. Rebecca's is Barbie! The children don't have screensavers, they usually turn the screen off or send the thing to sleep!!
  5. I personally feel that apart from the teacher's comments and the main subjects of English and Maths, and I think Science, the rest of the report really doesn't say much about the individual child apart form their achievement etc levels. It may be just at our school but the rest of it is all exactly the same for every shild except the names. I mean I didn't even get the I.E.P. for Rebecca this last term, I was shown it over the table at parents evening, but I got distracted by a panic call from hubby and didn't get a copy. We are now waiting to see what happens after all the assessments are in (WISC-IV school had this in May and SALT assessment done over the last three weeks of term). It worries me greatly that the school are not taking any notice of all that we have found out during year 4 - so little information! I would like there to be some mention of SEN in the report even if it was an added sheet only for those on the SEN register.
  6. You should appeal, I did for DD and with the help of CAB we won at tribunal. It was all down to what the primary school said in their report.
  7. I did vote on this a while back but feel I should add DS1 has medium rate care only Awarded to his 17th birthday DS2 has high rate personal care and low rate mobility Awarded to his 16th I think DD has low rate for both awarded til Dec '08 All claimed for in December last year. DD's claim went to tribunal to get the award.
  8. Just seen this Hev and I'd like to add any positive thoughts that you may need even if they are a bit late! Glad they're home okay and I hope their relationship is still okay!
  9. Sounds like plan Pearl.
  10. Well tonight we had fish in parsey sauce with spuds, carrots and broccoli! Tomorow we could have fish in parsley sauce. carrots spuds and broccoli! Monday we could go for a change and have spuds, carrots, broccoli and fish in parsley sauce! Joking aside, I know a few recipes but I feel some new ones in the offing!
  11. My teen went sea fishing with his friend yesterday. It wasn't cheap but he enjoys fishing and really wanted to go. With his ADHD I was a bit worried, but the boat owner is properly qualified in case of emergency. So I let him go, he was paying for the trip! He had a blast and came back with 5 pollock, he did catch loads of mackerel as well, but his ADHD got the better of him and he left them on the boat. Here is a picture of the fish he had the biggest battle with! 2 hours after he got home I had 15lb of fish fillets! Phew what a stink. Can you tell how tired he was at the end of the day? His world was still swaying when he went to bed! Look what I caught! Fishy's tail is out of shot though!
  12. Our pets have thinned down a little just lately. We now have two 4 year old Degus, one 12 year old Chinchilla, one three year old English Springer Spaniel and a tropical tank with 14 fish in it. Oh yes and a pond in the back garden that has resident newts and a lone frog! The way the garden was designed by the previous people who lived here does not leave a lot of scope for much wildlife (it's all waist high raised beds and patio slabs) but I try, we have managed to get some birds in the garden after being here for 6 years - mind you it's the first year after we lost the second of out 2 cats to old age. Little one is after her own pet to look after, but I can't have any more inside pets as we have nowhere to put them, there is no way we could let them be upstairs! She has had a bunch of snails as pets - didn't look after them - she tried catching a grasshopper to keep as a pet, then it was a pet worm, she's tried ants but they all escaped when she made them a slide. Last year we had stripey caterpillars, she's scared stiff of spiders but gives all the ones she sees indoors names and unless they get too near her I am not allowed to tough them! She says she is the only one who doesn't have her own pet, but then she also wants a little sister too and there s NO WAY she's getting one of those!!! We don't have any grass for a rabbit and I'm not sure I want an outside pet anyway. Cos I know who will end up seeing to the creature when the novelty wears off and I just don't have the energy!
  13. UPDATE 16 July Well we went to see the paediatrician last Tuesday. He gave Keiran a pretty thorough examination, I felt. He asked that we get a stool sample so the he can check for IBD, although he does not think this is the problem. He thinks that the spasms that Keiran is having are secondary to his very slow gut transit as it took the Fibreleif 4 days to get through. He mentioned blood tests and there was NO WAY Keiran was having any of that. He did a nose dive from sitting in the chair to my left to as far down the right side of my seat and the wall as he could get whilst saying No, no, no, no! Today I got a carbon copy of the letter sent to the referring GP today. Paed. wanted to do a Thyroid test, but as Keiran has such a huge negative reaction to the mere mention of the posibilty, they are going to wait. I looked this up and it seems to me that his symptoms fit better with Thyroid issues than any of the other things we have considered, but I don't want to get all in a twist about that until we see what the stool sample reveals. So Yesterday while I was out Keiran produced his second stool of the week (he forgot about needing a sample with the first one!) his dad had to deal with it  Currently I have him on: First thing yoghurt with 2 acidophilus capsules mixed in. In the afternoon ground sprouted linseed mixed into yoghurt with a protien powder mixed into it. Just before bed he has another yoghurt with 2 acidophilus capsules mixed in. He has a multi vitamin that the GP prescribed. Up to 1.5 litre of weak squash a day. And i have found some cereal bars that he likes they are made by Organix; so he can have them whenever he wants, anything to get his energy levels up and they are healthy too! And today I have just put him back on Peppermint complex twice a day - I took him off it until we got the stool sample. All this on top of what ever I can get him to eat at meal times. So after all that yoghurt I think we can safely say that milk is not the bad guy here! One thing the Paed. didn't do was try to link this with his ASD!!
  14. no idea what that means Mumble but... dung (hippo cast???)
  15. socks picking up from shortcake.
  16. Thank you Elaine I had read that Ceoliac can cause constipation, but the GP's are hung up un it causing dire rear! I will mention this next Tuesday when I see the paed. He has been drinking a litre bottle of drink every day since about week 2 so he shouldn't be dehydrated any more. The pizotofen is making him very sleepy. Yesterday he had a nose bleed, not sire if that is linked to anything though. Will take a look at thise links you put up to see if I can glean any helpful info to pass on when I see Paed.
  17. Yes he was under the paediatrician after a referral due to his enuresis and my concerns about his weight, he had just been discharged as we all felt things were at a point where we could tick along I suppose along with the fac that his weight had not fallen off that magic 9th centile line! The paediatrician only saw him as she was asked to fill in a DLA form - he got high rate personal care and low rate mobility as a result! She was going to be seeing DD as part of her ongoing issues, but I swapped so I could get Keirans DLA sorted out, now Rebecca has to wait until September this year form March when she would have been seen. But she is under CAMHS anyway. He is now dry at night for the most part, but he will still leave his little nuggets for me to find, usually by stepping on them! And when that happens we start with the Movicol again. This is where this period of pain seemed to start, I found nuggets and he went back on the Movicol but then everything changed. He has been very fussy with his food since he was about 2 when we were watching animal rescue while having Roast Chicken for tea, what did they have on that program but a rescue of a group of chickens! He refused to finish his tea and wouldn't eat chicken at all for a whole year. That is when he started loosing weight, he was a chunky little lad before then. He then had three years as a vegetarian from the age of 7 when he announced that he did not want to eat meat any more. I kept going back to the GP about his weight, eventually they agreed to monitor him and then he lost 2kg in a few months and that is when he was referred. He will now eat meat as long as there is no sign of the smallest bit of fat! He loves pork scratchings though!
  18. Thank you for your reply Clare. Problem with DS2 is that his tummy has been soft except when he was bunged up. I am really worried about him, and I really do appreciate any replies that may help me work this out. I have considered seeing a Cranial Osteopath or a Kiniesiologist, but these things all take time to track down and then get appointments for.
  19. Hi Lisa Thank you for your reply. I think they will do a test for Crohns and IBD, I feel that they are shying away from IBS due to him seemingly not being anxious about being in school. If I cut out wheat now will it affect the tests they may want to do next week? I really want to do what is best, but at the same time I want to find out what is causing the pain for DS2. It is interesting about the pepermint oil and flax seed oil. They have poked him all over his abdomen, but the pain does nit seen localised. He occasionally says that he has pain in his chest. SO what kind of diet do you have then? ... if you don't mind me asking. If I am to do an exclusion diet I think I may do it under medical advice as he is already so under weight.
  20. I would like to apologise for the length of this post in advance! My poor DS2 now 12 has been suffering so much these last few months. I don't know if anyone who reads this may be able to help figure out what may be going on, I geuss I'm getting ready to hit the panic button and need something, I don't know what that is though ... He has had issues with retained bowel for which he was taking Movicol to avoid too much of a problem, things were going well and the paed, discharged him in March, he has had other issues during his life that may well all go towards the problem he is now having; but this goes back to 14th April 07. He then had stomach pains which I thought was due to constipation again so I put him back on the movicol, we were out for the day and he needed paracetamol and a hot water bottle which helped a bit. He then cleared out, so we stopped the movicol again, and thought all was well. Then the pain came back and stayed he was in so much pain that I kept him off school. He ended up having 3 weeks off. 1st GP (our own GP) said keep going with Movicol as its probably gastro-intestinal pain caused by him being a bit bunged up. And said have you thought about school avoidance! A week later 2nd GP (couldn't see 1st GP) said take pain killers and increase fibre as much as we can. He got through 150ml of childrens Brufen in that week. Two weeks in we go back to 1st GP, who says shouldn't be on pain killers as they slow digestion down, go back onto Movicol and give it another week. Nothing much to worry about as he can obviously climb about okay! This was based on the fact that he got up on the exam bed okay. So the 3 weeks in after a very painful Sunday afternoon, we go back to 1st GP and he says okay I think he needs to start getting back into normal routine now as he does not seem to be so blocked up. Here is my poor boy, living with a hot water bottle being told go back to school. So I called school to let them know what had been said, and they were very supportive, they are still being very supportive. He went in in the Tuesday of week 4, he came home by break time. He was allowed to leave his bag in student services and go to them for his wheat bag to be heated if he needed it. Each day he went into school and each day he came home early, the longest he stayed was Friday; after taking Linseed (which seemed to ease the pain) on Thursday he stayed in school until the 5th period and came home at 2.40pm. But he was absolutiy drained and went to bed when he got home for an hour. I had made an appointment that morning with GP No. 3. (couldn't see 1st or 2nd GP) So off we go to see GP, he really listened to Keiran and gave him a good exam too. He said maybe IBS or as it is in the family could be Ceoliac or gluten intolerance, but that he needed to treat the pain and slow bowels for the weekend. We are given Fibrelief to be taken once a day 30 mins to 1 hour after food or other meds and anti spasm drug to be taken 20 mins before food. Keiran is being so brave, be wretches when he drinks the fibrelief and I give him 2 sweets and a marble for the jar each time - I'm so proud of him. He is still in pain and still not moving his bowels much! His food intake has dropped and he really can't afford to lose any more weight as he's just on the 9th centile for weight and 25th for height. Well a week later the blood test came back negative and K still in pain, weighed in at 26.5Kgs which for his height gives him a BMI of 13 (should be 20) GP No 2 this time referred him to paeditatrician - Apt 10th July. They are now worried about Inflammatory Bowel disease or Crohns. A week later we go back to GP No 2 - just last Wednesday. Told her that K had amigraine on Sunday and then she said that this may be Abdominal Migraine as both myself and hubby suffer with migraines. So she gave him meds for that. Now we have a situation where our poor lad who is already feeling out of energy has a drug with amongst other side effects Drowsiness which has hit him and now he is struggling to wake up before 10am. He is hardly eating, has not been to school apart from 1pm to 1240pm last Friday since 21st June. He has been to school hardly at all this term really. But he did say that the new meds seem to be helping in some way, except he is still having the painful spasms. And so ends this epic post, is there anything I have not considered?
  21. They really do know how to make you feel wanted don't they? Can your dad not print it out and snail mail it to you? At least you would have your itinerary then you wouldn't b so bothered wiht what ever the email issue is. HE looks gorgeous, but I think he has you wrapped right around his little paws! The trouble is with cats you do need to be careful that they don't go longer than 24 hours without eating as they can actually get very poorly. So you can't just say eat that or you get mothing until you do, like you might if a dog gets fussy. I think you need to get some professional advice on how best to handle this so that you can stop him from being such a complete pest! I bet t seems like they're all ganging up on you, eh?
