  3. I am distubed to find this article stating that there are are a few ill formed people who do not understand adhd. I have a child with adhd and two "normal children". Is it bad parenting? Well that is what the professionals were trying to tell me, so I did the positive parenting course and spent years with a child psycologist knowing that I have two perfectly well behaved children. It was only when school were having problems with changes in routine and obsessions that it became clear it was not bad parenting. After two nervous breakdowns they referred my son to a child psychiatrist who spent hours talking to him and reading all the information from the school. The change in my son now he is on medication is unbelievable, and even the school rang us up when we did not give him his medication as we had run out. You see they could tell the difference with his concentration on his school work. Don't tar us all with the same brush, it took me four and a half years to find out what was wrong. This is what I posted

You know the change is bad thing. We had stuffing, yorkies pasnips and sprouts, "Oh excues me it smells" and christmas pud, kids had vienetta. Didnt eat it until 3.45pm. Why does that always happen it it only the same as a Sunday dinner and it always takes longer. ? Oh and lots of baileys too, the best bit. Hubby had to get bed clothes on for me. lol

    It's snowing

I was up at four o clock yesterday morning to pick my step kids up from Brighton area and bring them back to Rugby in the midlands. It was snowing by the time I got to Luton area but I made it down there in three hours. After stopping off for a coffee and talking to their mum for an hour I went to visit eldest step daughter and new baby for an hour then started to head back thinking I would be back by one o clock time. After siting in the worlds biggest car park the M25 from the time I got on it to the time I reached the M1 with signs saying GRITTING IN PROGRESS and not getting above 20 miles per hour i was really cheesed off. We didnt see one gritter until we reached the turn off for Rugby and then we got sprayed with salt. We finally got back at four O clock and I was having a real hard time keeping my eyes open. Remind me next time to not go out when there are snow warnings. It wasnt the snow that was the problem but the signs they put up on the M25. The things we do for fellas hey!
  8. Hi, I can so totally sympathise with you, an absess makes you want to put your head through a wall doesnt it. I know that nothing takes the pain off it,however when my friend had one she went to A&E and they gave her some painkiller, I think it was Voltarol but not the tablet form, she had the one that you have to put up the other end. It worked for about eight hours and she did it herself when she got home. I think she said that if they didnt help her with something stronger she would end up topping herself overdosing on paracetamol. The only reason they gave her a suppository was because they have druggies in quite often who play them along. Of course my mate was so desparate she used the suppository even though the nurse said that she was supposed to administer it herself she let her take it home. It is worth a try having that even if it is embarassing. Good luck and i hope it goes soon. clair

  12. Hi, if I were you I would put down the name of the psycologist who has seen him as there is a place to put down the speech therapist somewhere else if I remember rightly. Allso this can be mentioned in the communication part of form 2. When I sent off my forms I sent them together. I also included reports off school one that I had asked them to write for the psycologist. It went something like this,"***** has problems and needs 24 hour supervision. He also self harms when stressed and is a danger to himself and others" It was signed by his class teacher and senco so they the dwp didnt even contact the school. I also included photocopies of speech therapy reports and statementing reports and highlighted the bits I wanted them to take notice of. As for the doctor I made sure we went and had a moan so there would be some recent documentation in his GP notes. The nurse sounds like a good person to put down and state that she is a qualified nurse and also a good friend. Include a photo of your child and maybe anything like if he stashes paper in his room etc. It makes the child real. I dont know what they must have thought when they recieved a huge package throught the post. It might have cost me money to send it by recorded delivery but it was well worth it. They didnt even bother to contact anyone at all regarding my son and he hadnt even got his diagnosis then. We had a reply within 9 days and he was awarded middle rate care and lower mobility for three years. I wish you the best of luck and remember to think of the worst day you have ever had before filling it in. Dont forget your paracetamol for the headache afterwards Clair
  13. My auntie who is in her seventies was a maths teacher to A- level. She teaches primary schools voluntarily now. When she helped my daughter the other week with this very scenario she told her that you always do the multiplication and division bits first then the add or subtraction. why I will never know but she is just a genius in teaching maths. She makes the kids understand things when the teachers have confused them by putting it into real life scenarios. hope it helps.

  16. Hi I am in a dilemma, My daughter came home from school yesterday in tears with 5 friends and burst into the house in tears. She had been thrreatened to be stabbed with a knife by a girl the same age. This happened outside school. We phoned the police as she had also been assaulted. When her friends said "Dont do it S****** "as they had seen the knife she turned on them and said she was going to stab them too. This girl has been going around the school saying I have been poisoning her dogs over the back fence and using my Psychic powers to wind them up. The police came out after 4 hours and said they would go andf ask her what happened and we left them with a list of names of witnesses. They phoned an hour later and said they had given her a formal warning and told her mother to dispose of the knife. Went to school to see head as he regards children still in school uniform as still representing the school. He said that he had sent her home and also had other concerns regarding her welfare and it would be very difficult to permanently exclude her as the evidence was not taken by the police so he would end up with an appeal and no evidence. This is making me so mad as the girl has admitted threatening to stab my daughter and her friends and couldnt really explain herself well apart from the fact that my daughter had ginger hair.(strawbertry blonde actually) The head said he is banging his head against a brick wall as the police are not supporting him at all. He said he has had two incidents in the last few weeks involving knives and both times the police have failed him. My friend went to the policestation today to ask why her daughter had not been interviewed and they told her the case was closed and that her daughters name was not on the list iof names that had been given by me. They have now reopened the case and my friend is not going to let the matter lie. What more do they want? I can just see this turning into something nasty as the whole school now knows what happened and it is sending the message of "Carry a knife and we wont do much" Has she got to actually be stabbed before the police do anything. I know it is probably a first offence but what a big one. She is ELEVEN years old. Does anyone know what rights we have as this girl has been bullying my daughter sinse she started at school and I am scared to death that she will be seriously hurt or worse. I have much respect for the head and the school and I dont want to bring the school into a bad light as this is only the second knife offence in all the years it has been open. Three lots of parents were at the school this morning regarding the incident before we were seen, complaining about this girl. Sorry to post here but I dont know where to turn anymore. Any advise from you kno wledge wizards would be great Clair
  17. hi funny this has been mentioned as I met a lad in the park one day and he was hiding in the bushes and wouldnt come out for his mum. He was 15 and we got talking. As his mum want on about her son all the AS traits came out and she told me that he was under the psycologist Camhs team. I suggested to her that he was sounding like he had AS and to mention this to the team. As I was no expert I told her that it might not be but it looked to me like he was with his voice tone etc. He also told me when his mum introduced him to me that he didnt like ginger people (i wasnt offended as I knew this was probably his AS traits of offending people without realising he had offended) he didnt know that he had done anything wrong. However I left her with my phone number and months later she phoned to say he had been given a diagnosis of AS and she wanted to know more. Afew months later I saw her and the diagnosis had been changed to Scizophrenia and he was in hospital. The two must be easily confused as children get older I dont know. I am still convinced what I saw was AS. But who am I???????

    Help

My son started on equasym capsules yesterday and also started chewing his fingers as well. He has been diagnosed ADHD on tuesday but he also has autistic traits. They could not diagnose asd as he has an imagination. They put him on these capsules which we gather are the same as ritalin but this has coincided with the the chewing of his skin on his fingers. They are really sore, it was only the one finger last night when he went to bed but when he got up this morning he had chewed the other hand. We are not sure if this is the medication making him anxious or if it is a new thing for him. We cannot work out if this medication is supposed to work this quick or whether it works over time as he came home from school yesterday after his first dose and said " mummy I dont need any help anymore at school because I found it easy work today". He was also a little angel last night and he has gone all polite and very well spoken as if it is not him. can someone please tell me if they have had the same problems with their child going on ritalin? I will ring the docs but dont want to sound a fool if he tells me that it doesnt work that fast (if you know what I mean) Any help will be great.
  19. Dont worry , I have just spent the last week worrying over nothing after recieving a letter almost the same, they came out today and just did an assessment to see that we were recieving all the help we could. If it was serious a policeman would be stood on your doorstep with the social worker the next day after they recieved the referral. The fact that they are leaving it a week means that they have more serious issues to deal with (in their eyes I mean). I wish you all the best anyway.
  20. haha I ve been doing that alot lately. I have been on them for the last few week, two years before that and again two years before that. I have had so many different ones but these ones are great. They are called Venlafaxine. (everything just floaties over my head haha) no stress anymore . They havent put on weight which I am pleased about however I was on one called zispin and I put on three stone (big mama) and I have never really shifted it since, not for the want of trying, allthough it worked at the time and I will not put it down in any other way as it saved my life.
  21. We have been sent an appointment at last for our son to see a psychiatrist. They have all the information in his files from the psycologist he was seeing but what will this professional do. They have tried to say before they did not think an ASD diagnosis was correct and that it may be Adhd, however when the secretary rang us and told us she was setting up an urgent appointment with the psychiatrist as she had quickly shown her his file, she mentioned that aspergers and adhd had been mentioned just from a quick look at the file and that he was very interested in meeting him. We were just trying to figure out if we had to go from step one again or will they use the notes from the psycology department. Yoe see, when anyone meets our son he is the most sweet angelic child you could imagine, but the school and ourselves know different. Thanks Clair. By the way thankyou for the messages of support the other week when E=MC2 was taking over, I just couldnt cope anymore at the time and ended up in hospital for a night, but now thanks to strong antidepressents I can just about focus now.

    Food Faves

I myself love sausages but only when they are cold and on sticks for some reason. My son who is the one going through assessment has a real thing for rice with tomato ketchup on at the moment <'>
  23. Arhhhh.. that happened to my sister when she was young. My dad actually worked in A & E at the time when she fell and we thought she had broken her leg. Because the doctor had said it was fine after an Xray my dad said she had to try and walk on it and got quite cross with her when she wouldnt. Four days later after a lot of tears and tantrums the hospital phoned in the same way as they have with you and said " tell your daughter not to walk on it and to come straight down" so they could plaster it after a new Xray. I t does make you mad doesnt it. We didnt blame my dad though as being a nurse he had to run under the doctors orders. Hope little mans finger gets better soon, it is painfull I did mine going down a slide like superman as a kid. The slightest movement and it throbs like mad. Everyone take care, Clair
