    The Batcave

DW looks at the clock,....only another 400 or so cave cretins to gather,...and in the same fashion as Cinderella's coach turned into a pumpkin at midnight,.....so shall the cretins be DELETED!!!!!!! Mwaha ha ha ha ha,.................... What a wonderful plan of Banmans,....a party,...everyone's invited!!!!!!! Robbie hops up onto DW's muscular knee and twitches his nose in appreciation! His 'Elvis' fur-doo has been a right hit with his furry friend he met the other day. 'Furry friend' has remained silent in awe of him. Robbie likes this!!

    The Batcave

Delete Woman tip-toes into the Batcave. It's been a while! She looks around her and wails in dismay at the state of the place. No self-respecting bat-dood would visit such a place. Quite obviously, squatters have moved in! The smell,...the debris,... How on earth was the cave going to be fit for the Elton John style Party in less than a week?!! DW places hands firmly on both hips and spins on her heels to stomp back out through the cave entrance. There are people who need deleting!!!! She causes a draft behind her as she exits speedily. The Jesters hair-piece wafts to the floor from where it had been discarded on the candle holder. Robbie senses the all clear and moves gingerly towards this new furry friend,.......
  6. Howdi ladies!! Just an update,...much as I don't want to have anything to do with SEN, whilst still dreaming of my adventure holiday I returned from on Sunday night! I phoned the designated case officer at the LEA regarding my request for OT assessment, and they have informed me that I need to request it when we have the Community Paed appointment in September. If they (the Paed) think there is a need, then the LEA will consider it. I will let you know how things go. Hope you are all wel. Elefan xx
  7. Thank you both for such informative replies. Things are a little clearer now. I'm so woried about the Ed Psych doing a review of my girl in class, as I don't believe her to be 100% professional. Only my opinion of course, but based on experience!!! I will keep you posted on what the LEA says to my request I will make in a week or so. <'> to both of you! Elefan xx

  9. Cheers Nels! I tried phoning the case worker today, but she is off until next week, when I am then away!!! Doh!! I will get onto her when I return from my adventures!! Thanks again. I have been pulling all my toolkit apart and all the masses of literature I have accumulated over the last year on all things SEN. The girls have complained today, so I have had to halt just now, but will try to get a chance to consider the next steps after next week. I always imagined a Statutory Assessment would include people actually viewing my child in the school environment. How can that be done if it is the school holidays!? Is it a mad rush to get people into the school in the first few weeks of September before the 10 week deadline expires!? The clock is ticking from now, isn't it!? The impression I get is that the professionals will just write their thoughts based on what they know of her already. Aaarghhhh,,,,ok,...I'm going to attempt to switch off for a week! Elefan xx
  10. THIS QUERY IS REGARDS THE STAT ASSESS, RATHER THAN TRIBUNAL Hiya, I have received a list of people the LEA will be approaching as part of the assessment. It does not include an OT like I suggested. How do I go about getting them to do this? Should I write to them and ask this clearly? Do I need to name an OT, or would they just approach one? Sorry,...but would appreciate advice. The only people they will be approaching are; Headteacher Ed Psych Community Paed My girls Psychiatrist from CAMHS A woman from BEST (LEA) Our Psychologist from CHASAC. They say they wont write to our GP, and that I have to get him to do report if I want it included. Elefan xx

    Introductions!!

A very welcoming welcome to everyone who has joined in the last week!! Thank you to Mossgrove and Baddad (and others) for sharing the web address, too. <'> Since setting up the forum, I have become so much more enlightened. You're all amazing! Can't believe it will almost be a year since we started!! Pimms in the Batcave!?? Elefan xx
  15. Swedish glace was a hit for my little 'un too!! I even liked it,...and I like my Mr Whippy!! No comments, CarolJ!! Bid, I can't remember the name of the yogs my little girl used to have,...Yofu Junior seems to ring a bell though. Had no 'bits',...which was also important! Good luck. I understand how difficult it is. As I mentioned before,..my little girl who also has allergies/intollerences came on in leaps and bounds with the help of a homeopath! Defies my understanding,...but it truly worked. Elefan xx
  16. Thanks for that Cristy. And for shoppers in the UK, a phone call to the Head Office of any major supermarket should result in you being sent a list of all their products that specifically avoid certain ingredients. For example, you can request their diary free range sheets, or Gluten free range sheets. Elefan
  17. Hi Cristy, Please do start a topic on recipies! There will be many people who would be interested in reading/trying them. Sounds like it was a really trying time for you and your boy. I imagine that some children are almost addicted to certain foods, often craving what they are intollerent of. So, perhaps they go through very real withdrawal symptoms. Glad you have the benefits now though. Welcome to the forum! Elefan
  18. Gita, Regarding the recipies,....if someone wants to start such a topic, then please go ahead. We can then 'pin' it, like we have for topics such as 'Top Tips' (or whatever it is called)!! Now I really am lazy,...cos I am not changing pages/screens to find out what that topic is called exactly!! As someone who has had to experiment with diets, owing to my girl contracting an intestinal disease, I can confirm how difficult it is to impliment and stick to, especially when you have other siblings who don't need the same restrictions. Something to ponder (and possibly playing devils advocate), is that I found out that my little girl learned to tolerate most things in moderation with the help of homeopathy. It took time, but with regular hour long consultations and changing 'remedies' we saw a vast improvement, behaviourally and with tolerence to foods. She remains like this. I don't have her on a restricted diet anymore. Though she is fussier than ever now!!! Doh! Sometimes we parents are at 'overload' stage. So many idea's, recommendations, and advice to follow. Only so many hours in the day! And very often, it is a case of priorities. I do know that the people I have met here are the most inspirational folk I have come across. So deserving, but having to use up all of their energy and resources on taking on the system. I hope you all get the success you deserve, from whatever you try. We all try our best. Bid,..have a hug <'> , I know you're having a really hard time of it. One for Jester too,..and you, Auriel!! Elefan xx

Thanks you guys! <'> It is such a lottery though, and I have been reading back on the posts in this and similar threads. There are so many deserving people out there, who have not been so lucky. It's simply unjust and not fair. I know I have been lucky. I hope anyone who has yet to claim this benefit is encouraged to do so. The dogged determination shown by you all was inspiring for me!! Just to let you know that I have today been told my little girl qualifies for the Higher rate personal care and lower rate mobility! I'm really shocked, but relieved too. it will make a huge difference. Now I will do the Carers allowance forms, which I was too scared to do at the time for fear of tempting fate!! Thanks for all your invaluable assistance!!!!!!! <'> Elefan xx
  22. Back again, bid!! Sorry bout that! Right,..homeopaths,...well, in my experience they are definitely worth trying! We actually turned to a homeopath several years ago, at a time when we were scared to go near the medical profession in case they diagnosed her!! In addition to her worrying 'traits', she had fallen foul to a notifiable disease caught in our local swimming pool!! This disease causes damage to the intestines and is antibiotic resistant. Her system couldn't cope any more, on top of existing allergies, too. The homeopath was wonderful!! She spent hour long regular sessions, delving deep into our little girls history, starting from birth. No stone un-turned. She would need time after each meeting to consider what 'remedy' to come up with. I must admit to thinking it was a load of old tosh initially, but I was desperate! Anything was worth a try. Not everyone is receptive to homeopathy, and I subsequently discovered that my other little girl doesn't respond to it. We were warned that the remedies work by making 'symptoms' worse, before they get better. OMG,..she wasn't kidding! That first evening was pretty awful, however, the next day was amazing. The transformation didn't last too long, but was clear to see. The same process is then repeated after another dose, and so on. The aim is for the 'aggravation' stage to get shorter whilst the windows of improvement last longer. The upshot was that we retrieved out little girl from the mess she was in after having this disease on top of everything else. Her eczema, asthma, and food intollerances improved noticeably. For the first time (and ever since) she has been able to tollerate most foods (but we still mostly avoid dairy) in moderation. I know you are asking specifically about homeopathy for stress/anxety, Bid, but all I can say is that there was no down-side to trying this. The improvements were visible, though we were trying to address her 'traits' and the general collapse of her immune system (rather than anxiety). We credit the homeopath with so much. She bought us time and ultimately became a supporter who contributed correspondence when we finally accepted that we had to seek a medical opinion. Incidentally, many GP surgeries will recommend a particular homeopath, so its worth asking. However, the 'windows' that the remedies gave our little 'un, grew shorter, and she almost seemed to become immune to the positive effects. In essence, they stopped working, but for a couple of years, they really helped. Ironically, our little girl is on Sertraline now, so things have worked out in reverse from you! I would be very interested in knowing how you get on with weaning auriel off the meds and how you find homeopathy. Please keep me posted. Hope you are managing to plough your way through all the parental evidence stuff and that auriel is calmer for his 'time out' from school. Kindest regards, Elefan xx PS I was a convert to homeopathy and the above is only my experience. It didn't work for anyone else in my family though (NT's), but I reckon our ASD children are more 'sensitive' to things like this. Good luck.
  23. Howdi Bid! Bear with me,...I am dashing out just now, but when I get a mo, I will post about my experiences with homeopathy on my little girl. Back soon!! Elefan xx

    Statement

Hiya Niki, news about the statement. I hope you get it tweaked the way you want and need it to be. Please keep us posted. I have recently submitted a parental request for a Statutory Assessment, but was told last week that my little girl is unlikely to get a statement (by a Educational Psychologist she has met previousy). Kind of feel like I am just doing a paper based project for the sheer hell of it now!! At least if they maybe agree to conduct the assessment it will at least draw out appropriate things for a revised IEP. Good luck. Elefan
