carrieq Report post Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) Things are finally beginning to move with regards ds being held in room. The girl who made the allegation has reported it to the police and they need to interview ds. They are taking it very seriously which should be a huge kick up the backside for the school and the authority. Ds doesn't talk about it, he did what he usually does after a huge episode, slept for hours and has no recall to questions about it. A specialist police person will be there and they know about E. but I don't know how much they will get from him. The girl has now been sacked from After School Club which I am very angry about. I have a meeting this afternoon with a member of the commitee and will dtress my grave concerns regarding keeping vital information from parents and the fact that the only failing on the girls' part is that she didn't follow procedure which is a training issue reflecting on senior management. Ds has had a really bad couple of weeks, he has been excluded and been found with a bag on his head. We have seen CAMHS and they feel he is not suicidal but reacting to situations and that it could easily happen again. I am feeling wrung out at the moment and just waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel! Have handed my notice in at work as he needs me closer at hand. Sorry this has turned into a bit of a woe is me but it feels better being able to share it with people who understand Carrie Hi carrie - I have taken the name out of your post as it could lead to your DS being id'd if other people in your area use the forum. I felt this would be what you wanted, as in the rest of the post he is referred to as 'DS' instead of by name. Hope i got it right I hope everything goes well, and that the interview helps to clarify/resolve the situation Very, very best L&P BD <'> Edited June 19, 2007 by baddad
Clare63 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 Oh Carrie, I am so sorry I have not been around for a bit and have only just caught back up with your thread. I truly hope you get a satisfacory result from this and that it does not become all too much tramatic. You certainly have all of us behind you, just wish I could do or say more. Thinking of you and your DS, take good care of one another. Clare x x x <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'>

madme Report post Posted June 19, 2007 Hope it gets settle soon. Ds also sleeps after trauma like this. Hope the police are gentle. My son was attacked by another parent and pinned to a wall in the school playground- taken out of the line by the parent while in his first primary school. We went to the police who said that there were no witnesses and they couldn't proceed. I hope the playworker gets proper legal advice and takes it further. carrieq Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Thank you for your replies! The police interveiwed me for over 2 hours and then ds for an hour and a half. They were great, he opened up and told them so much more than he has told us. It backed up the statement saying he was in a room that he couldn't get out of. I feel quite strange as I would like it not to be true but now that it is out in the open the person who did it can be punished and in a sense there is some justice for ds. I think it will move quite quickly now. I also received a letter from the authority saying they will not release reports of the incident to me as a third party is involved and they are going to protect their confidentiality. Brother has filled in the relevant appeal form which has been sent off. I asked the police if they would have automatic access and they said they were unsure as they haven't come across access being denied. Thank you for being there I felt very low a couple of days ago and it is so good to have support and encouragement!! Carrie
JenRose Report post Posted June 21, 2007 carrie-re not releasing reports, i know this isnt the same thing but we had this last week with our lea. they were refusing to release an email concerning our son because there was a 3rd party involved. i phoned the freedom of information dept, i think most councils have one and they advised me that we ARE entitled to see ALL correspondence etc relating to M and that they cannot withhold information from us as his parents. as for the 3rd person im presuming this is either a teacher or someone from the school? you already know who,s involved so this shouldnt matter, you are entitled to this report, dont let them fob you off. jen x
cmuir Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Hi Carrieq This whole situation is dreadful, but I'm so glad that you're getting somewhere. This should be an almightly rocket up someone! How dare they treat a child like that and get away with it. What a star your son is to have coped with this and done really well talking to the police. Just shows, I know that on the forum a lot of topics are posted because of negative situations which are difficult or impossible to resolve - so good to hear something positive come out of this in the sense that this is being taken seriously. Best wishes Caroline.
aro Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Glad things are happening. This appears to be a case of unlawful imprisonment and child abuse. I hope that the police prosecute those involved! Good luck, A x

lil_me Report post Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) Carrie, I hope you, your partner and DS are ok after the interview. It isn't unusual for people on the spectrum to not disclose things to parents that they will to others, some say they don't see the 'need' to explain it to the parents. Hope you get some answers soon. Edited June 24, 2007 by lil_me
PinkSapphire Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Hun I really hope things do move faster now and that you do get access to these reports. schools can be good at keeping things private, only when it suits THEM in my experience.

carrieq Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Heard today that it is going to proceed as a criminal investigation with staff being interviewed. I hope a few cages get rattled big style!!! I hope the police get to the bottom of what happened and why. I keep thinking that if there had been nothing untoward in the report of the incident then there would have been no problem with me seeing it. Fingers crossed for a quick outcome! aro Report post Posted June 25, 2007 This is fantastic, afterall if that person hadn't found him and let him out how long would they have left him? It was barbaric and illegal, I hope they get severely punished. They had a duty of care and abused it, how will your son be able to trust adults now. Good luck with the case.
