Brave or Foolish?

Recommended Posts

J (Aspergers) was 10 last week, and is having his first every birthday party today, we have hired out part of a local sports hall where they also have a bouncy castle.

Because it all seemed a good idea when it was a few weeks away we are also holding a bithday party for DD who is 6 on friday at the same time, and combined it with my Sister in law and her family visiting for the weekend.

This means our afternoon will be spent with 10 mainly autistic boys and 10 6 yar old girs and an assortment of parents spead over a couple of rooms in the sports hall.

Considering we normally don't do this sort of socialising at all (It's always been something other people do!) I am now wondering if we have over-compensated wildly. I am looming forward to it all being over and having a galss or two of wine this evening.

Wish us luck!

Simon

You just need to keep repeating to yourself over and over whilst you're there:

' The kids are having fun.....the kids are having fun....the kids are having fun......'

I've had a party for J most years and can honestly say I usually find them pretty tiring and stressful, BUT the upside to that is you do get to feel like parent of the year cos the kids usually do really enjoy themselves!

Take a deep breathe and go for it!! - it sounds great having it in the hall and the kids will love the castles.

My son's eight next week and we had his at a sports centre yesterday - we got to throw kids off a ski slope in huge tyres!! - now thats quite fun

Hope it goes well today - I'm sure it will...congratulate yourselves with a huge glass of wine later! >:D<<'>

Hope it all goes well, and remember how lovely it feels when it's all over and you can think that you don't have to do it again for another year!

Hope it all goes well Simon. Even if there are a few hiccups, and I don't mean following the wine  , I'm sure the children will have a ball.

 , mossie .........your both brave and foolish, hope you survived  .

Seriously ....................I think everything will work out, if most of the kids are ASD , then their parents will be on a level and hopefully pretty understanding so if any problems arise things should be o.k...............you however may need a dark room and quiet ...........for a while........, may I suggest the cupboard under the staris  , hugs suzex.

Party went well!

It was as chaotic and stressful for the adults as you might imagine, but the children all had a good time!

VERY tired now and off to bed!
