Am I tempting fate to feel positive?

Luke is currently going through the statutory assessment process (after having to take LEA to SENDIST to get them to do it by their order)

 

Today as well as finding out Luke does not need to have the medical examination as he was seen by his own excellent specialist in Feb and they can get her to do the report.

 

Then I emailed the SENCO and she told me she has had a long meeting with the Ed Psyc and he does not need to see Luke or myself again (as he saw us in November) and that he is going to ask, in his advice to panel, that Luke be assisted on two fronts - the ASD/social skills front, and the literacy/comprehension/understanding support.

 

SENCO also said all reports from professionals have to reach LEA by May 30th and that after that I will be sent copies of all reports and asked for my views, I have already prepared my own report ready for that time.

 

I am really feeling we might actually finally get him a statement at long last (he is 11 now) for the first time!

Word of warning. Ring the LEA at the beginning of June to make sure that they have recieved all reports and that they are actually LOGGED IN on computer as recieved.

From my experience, you need to phone to check that the various professionals have written and sent their reports.

 

Then you need to phone the LEA to check that they have received these reports.

 

I did this with absolutely everything, otherwise you can find that the LEA have been waiting weeks for something, but nobody tells you this

psp. Nice to feel slightly optomistic about how things are going, but you know what the LEA are like. Just keep checking everything like you have been doing Unfortunately even with a statement you can't relax completely, but you have made so much progress. Kepp going
