Hiya, My husband has been on this for several years. It takes a long time to get into anyones system - about 6 weeks and there are many side effects. I run a forum for people and their carers/family/loved ones with depression and mental health illness and on there we have seen many people on this medication, admittedly not many children, but at least then you can talk to people on it and see the good things and the bad things about it. Its the same with any anti d. Side effects should last no longer than 2 weeks. If they do go back and see your gp it may be that the doseage needs to be altered or a new drug needs to be tried. Check out legal aid.. I dont know if it helps but I know that "the one show" did a piece on legal aid last night and there is also a phone number where you can call and speak to a solicitor. They will then determine whether you qualify for legal aid.. I remember your post and it made me feel sick for him. I cant believe they have said he would not make a reliable witness based on his ASD. Have you thought about talking to the disability and discrimination team? Surely they are discriminating against him through his ASD? Good luck..

Oh god you have no idea what a nerve that has hit with me! Ben is 8 and we have similar issues with my mil.. Nanny can do no wrong - EVER. Ben is "always an angel when I have him" and "you just dont understand him"! erm, actually I have a better idea of his triggers, what he likes, when he retreats etc and his behavioural issues than she will ever have, and besides she only ever has him on a one to one basis!!! I feel your frustration!!!!

I have to agree with the others, its more of a self protection thing I think, so that if things don't go well then you don't look "stupid" but if they do go well then you look cool!

When I was teaching in a special school we also held meetings in a different room and were alloted 45 mins, but some ran over a bit. Again I think that if there is something that you want to discuss which is not covered then you should reschedule another meeting..

What a ridiculous thing for him to say! My son with AS has an amazing personality, the students I have worked with in the past also all had individual personalities! FWIW I havent been on these boards for long, but Id say you had a personality!

Im with the others on this one tbh, I know that when I was living at home even on a part time job I had to give my mum 1/2 of what I was earning, out of the rest Ihad to pay for everything for my own car etc etc I think you are being more than generous!!!

Hope the op goes well! I know that when Ben was younger I had nightmares with him and then went and had 2 more babies via c section so I do sympathise. He didnt really "get it" at all until I came out and it was a bit more obvious itms? We were told to do stories with him etc but again it depends on ages concerned!
