  1. The last one was published last year in Autism - you may be able to get a copy of the full article from the NAS ... The abstract is available on this page and also includes the email addy of one of the authors - you could email and ask politely for an electronic copy of the article as you are a parent who does not have access to the full text. No harm done by asking and I often find that the article is sent ...
  2. Yep - that's what they seem to say ... and i didn't even look for critical stuff - they just came up There's a glowing report of it here from the people who publish and sell it

  5. Well done on PMing me! See you've gone for a bit more anonymity! I used to know the canal in your area well - helped restore a considerable bit of it ... the brick walls were built by me (plus a few others!!!) on 6 of them
  6. I'm watching it at the moment - in 20 minute sessions. It's a good film but i'm not so sure NT people without much contact with autism would 'get' the autistic side so well. i also feel a bit like Linda is some sort of peepshow ... makes me uneasy. i'll report back when I've seen it all as I've another 30 minutes to watch at some point. Don't know what the dog has eaten but I'm going to have to vacate the lounge until the smell clears!
  7. Glad it went well - hope they get the TA situation sorted out
  8. Hi there - ultramum here - smiley probably sent you a pm (personal message) - there's usually a 'reply' link you can hit at the bottom to send a reply - if you look at the top right there is a bit which says new messages 0 next to the 'my assistant' bit - click on that and then you should see Smiley's message - click on that to open it and have a look at the bottom - that's where the 'reply' link is. Hope that's slightly clearer than mud!!!! If you want to pm someone then have a look at a message from them and there is a link under their photo thingy Some of us keep our whereabouts slightly confused as LEA people have been known to read the posts and it may cause hassle if you ae in the middle of a with them - it's up to you ...

  11. Two months is correct - from the date of the letter accompanying the final statement. Might be worth contacting IPSEA to help with the paper work??? Best wishes for the journey ... I'll be praying Update on our situation ... got an amendment to j's statement on 14th feb for Secondary. The only thing amended is the school. So although they have proposed cutting his support they haven't written it down yet and so we have nothing in writing to appeal against ... solicitors suggest appealing anyway but it's hard to state reasons for appeal ...

  17. Haven't read it all yet but may be of use for those wishing to have such a placement for their child - in particular councils do not necessarily have any direct cost comparisons for the different types of placement ... http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/reports...NATIONAL-REPORT
  18. Check with IPSEA but my advice would be to reply along the lines of ... Thank you for your letter of ____. We have already provided you with details of the areas that we disagree with in X's proposed statement in our correspondence dated ____. It has not proved possible to come close to agreement on these issues so far so we repeat our request that you finalise X's statemennt so that we can appeal to SENDIST. We should be happy to resolve these issues without a tribunal hearing. We are happy to arrange to meet with you to discuss these areas but not at the expense of delaying an appeal to SENDIST. We believe that XXXXXX XXX school will be suitable and able to meet X's particular special educational needs and are exercising our right to express our preference in the matter of the school that X will attend. Regarding the school bit... IPSEA publicized a letter that was sent to all LEAs in Nov 2005 http://www.ipsea.org.uk/DfESletter2LEAs15-Nov-05.pdf and it says:
