  2. Chin up JenRose I'll be for you tomorrow If you don't wish to agree to anything at the meeting I would make that clear at the start. Say that you and your husband need to discuss things with your advisors before making any decisions but that you are willing to listen to their reasons for their decisions and any proposals that they have to make. Then - as Helen suggests - conclude the meeting by saying thank you for your time. In light of the time that has passed since the start of the assessment process in [whenever it started], we feel that, for M?s sake, it is important now to have a finalised statement in order to arrange the appropriate support for him. We wish to see this draft statement finalised, naming xxxx school, so that a programme can be in place for M ASAP If in doubt write out a little speech for the beginning and end...! My own opinion - feel free to plagarise

It makes life harder when the school doesn't see the problem - that's why it's a good idea to get an independent EP assessment - not cheap usually but then the school and LEA have to say why they disagree with them. Check - if you do go down this line - that they would be willing to go to tribunal to give evidence if necessary - some are willing to do the report but not to appear at Tribunal. The NAS did have a list of EPs on their website ... I agree with helen that this is probably your best move in requesting an assessment - the school is getting no-where fast and at the end of the day it is your child's future they are dealing with. the SATs results!!!
  13. You could apply as a parent for a statutory assessment ....

  18. LOL - I lived in Ashford in Kent when that happened - I got up in the middle of the night to close the window as it was a bit windy! . Phone rang next morning at 7am - my boss to say don't try to make it into work today - she then had to explain there'd been a hurricane, loads of trees down and roads blocked and no power - I'd slept through the lot!!!! Wish I could sleep as well now - been up since 4:30am sorting out documents to photocopy and send to solicitors ( - there goes another tree or two ... )
