  1. how awful for you have you looked at special schools mines been in a unit and now at specail school and the difference is amazing all the staff understand autism they have the proper facilities quiet areas etc and the staff in these schools want to be there to help our kids, the kids dont have to fi tin with the rules of the school, lots of adjustments can be made to suit the child not the staff i didnt want to see mine in a special school but im glad he is now its took his anxiety levels right down and if some things not right i can write in book or go up there and they, ll do there best to make things easier for him good luck in whatever you decide
  2. what a lovely positive message great to hear he has friends who accept him for who he is thats fantastic my son's been in autistic unit since 4years old and about 3 years ago when he was 8 he asked me why my friends children were in the mainstream and he could see them in their yard and asked me why he was in a seperate yard class to them i told him he was special and that he had something called autism and it just made him act in in a bit different way and it just made up who he was a lovely little boy i ve slowly told him bits as hes got older
  3. hi bike mad does he have a statment what does ed phyc paed psych think is right setting for him if you have their support for asd unit or sen school he should be allowed to go there not have to be singled out and humiliated this way standing in a corner didnt know they be allowed to do this any more especially to sen child couldnt they give him some support at break lunch times ,trying to fit in to mainstream dont they think they are humiliating him and damaging his self esteem could you insist on review asap and insist on more approp setting or more support agree with js advice above good luck hope you get some help its like trying to walk up a down escalator to get help for our kids all the best oh how did you get on with blue badge
  4. loulou what a difficult time glad youve got your sister to take care of you no matter how much we love and worry about our kids we have to think of ourselves as well try not to worry i know its easier said than done take care <'> <'>
  5. hi julie dont know if it will be any use to you but the charity cerebra do a free home learning course for parents of asd kids and other disorders im thinking of doing it myself you can pick the units you are interested in so you can help your asd child it looks ideal for parents who need to arm themselves with knowledge about their child, their rights etc. Hope this of some use to you best of luck take care <'> <'> <'>
  6. i think they try so hard to behave as expected at school and often not given any oppotunity to chill out or get rid of their aggression that as soon as they are home where its familiar and feels" safe" that they feel able to get rid of their negative emotions they have been repressing all day not much fun for us though
  7. good luck today hope things go well for you <'> <'> <'> <'>
  8. hi im no expert but speaking from my own experience with my son hes 11 i think the two disorders are intertwined my son seems to get more obsessed about "germs"the higher his anxiety levels are he has to constantley go back and forth to the sink to wash his hands and then carefully drying his hands he has to have a clean towel each time ive minimised washing a little by buying him a stack of flannels he also keeps going back and forth to the toilet for a wee when his stress levels are very high would a tick chart help reassure him computer etc is off i find my son reponds more to visuals when hes anxious my sons been on a mild beta blocker for a while now which has the side effect of lowering anxiety levels and i think its helped him a lot id ask doctor for advice could he have some support therapy with someone my son sees a learning difficuties nurse(whose linked to his paed phyc) every week at home who helps work through his anxieties wih him hope this helps pm me if i can be any futher help take care lots of luck <'> <'> oh hes obseessed with every perfect in his bedroom as well

  12. oh you could be talking about r (hes 11)ive been in similar situations with r but they have thankfully lessened in last year or two its awful for you because you cant get through to him that he can have new one better one but to them all thats in ther head is its gone forever and then its a full blown meltdown its so stressfull for both of you have you thought of any medication prehaps just in short term r takes a mild betablocker in liquid form every morning and it just takes the edge of his anxiety so that i have a chance of getting though to him before theres a full scale meltdown could you have word with paed pych for advice if this something your thinking of hope this some help take care let me know if you want name of beta blocker pm me all the best
  13. my r is like this what i do is get him to lie on the sofa we shut blinds and i put on some calm music i then let him chill there for a while and encourage him to tell me what the probs have been at school and try to help him with them its taken me a long time to get to this stage though hes 11 now only managed to do it in last year when he realised for himself that he needed to calm down after school agree with warren need opportunity to go to calm quiet place at school when stressed could you have word with teacher senco get them to adapt a small area of class for chill oUt space prehaps by using wall board cushions calm music with headphones so your child can use thissmall corner when senses are over loaded ,is there a nursery nurse or t a who could help get your child used to using such an area when thing get to much good luck let me know if i can offer any other advice take care S. A. M.
