  1. My daughter is 9 and is dyspraxic and is being assessed for aspergers as well. We saw an OT and I asked daughter if there was anything she was worried about that she could discuss with the OT. We ended up with a list as long as your arm, but one of the things that Daughter mentioned that sometimes in the class room she would just stare at something and she couldn't stop stareing, she could hear what was going on arround her but she couldn't snap out of it. We brought up the subject of petite mal but the OT thought it was more likely that there was so much going on arround her that she was just shutting off. If it was a petite mal would daughter be aware that it was happening? Should I be worrying? Deb
  2. I attend a parenting course through CAMHS and all the children there have ASD or ADHD (or both). I think it has been helpful and I don't regret going!
  3. My daughter was refered to camhs recently for an assessment on AS, they refered us on to SOCOM a social and communications group. She was then observed by a SALT and a combination of psychologists, there were 4 of them altogether if you count the 2 who videoed her from behind a 2 way mirror! we went off and spoke to someone (can't remember who she was) about daughter for an hour while they assessed her. They assessed her on emotions, she didn't do to well on this, social, she didn't do to well on this either, and role play which they said she did well on. They now want to see daughter in school to see how she interacts with her friends to see what is aspergers and what is dyspraxia, From what I can gather the DX will depend on this, ie dyspraxia with aspergers tendencies or aspergers with dyspraxic tendencies. when we came out I asked her what they asked her, she said she couldn't remember and I said its like getting blood out of a stone, she replied, has a stone got blood in it then ! I think the salt was speaking to daughter about something that interested her and daughter never once asked her questions about it, she also had to act out a story and she did the gestures with her hands but her facial expressions didn't change, she had trouble saying what would make her brother annoyed, she said how would I know how he feels. (Daughter never told me this the salt did after). My daughter wasn't bothered by any of the assessments, she wasn't even phased when we were introduced to the 2 people in the broom cupboard filming her!, where as hubby and I jumped when they said hello to us.. anyway hope this helps a bit Deb
  4. This was really helpful because it show you how it 'grade' the answers and what they mean.... daughter doesn't even acknowledge us when we come home, now I would have put her as mild as she can acknowledge us... she just chooses not to.. the test would have scored her as severe.. OHHHh I wish I had seen something like this earlier as it seems we have 'underscored' daughter is a lot of these questionaires from camhs. she scored 108, and I think that was being kind... she's being assessed for aspergers tendencies

    supply teachers

My daughter is 9 and is being assessed for aspergers, I know when she comes home in a bad mood that she has had a supply teacher. The other night she was still awake when my husband checked her at 12:15am!he asked if she was worrying about anything and she said her teacher was on a course and she was wondering what supply the class were going to have! Either way it worrys her.
  6. Daughter is 9 and is being assessed for aspergers, and she has always liked adverts. As a child she would stop what she was doing and stand infront of the tv Now she sings all the jingles.. and quotes them... her favourite at the moment is that yolp one... the milkshake drink that goes "when I wake up in the morning"........ If she sings it one more time I will scream...
  7. On christmas Eve we had... lamb shanks.. with mint jelly and gravy...MMmmmmmmm roast potatoes sprouts peas sweetcorn mashed swede and potato cauliflour yorkshire pud for tea..... and I made enough for lunch the next day and just microwaved it..... ###### lovely and no washing up and messing about in the kitchen... Then we had a big salad when the family came round in the evening..............
  8. Did you go into the control panel at all?? large writing so you can see it
  9. go to view at the top left hand corner, click on it and go to text size, click to larger... does this help??
  10. What do you mean.... could Adverts could be an obsession... Daughter can tell you what they are going to be about in the first 3 seconds.....
  11. Hello. I'm a lurker here.... Daughter saw the CAMHs team yesterday and they asked about obsessions.... what is the difference between and obsession and general interest?? I mean Daughter had a phase a while ago about tamagotchi's... I even had to take it to work to keep it alive... and heaven forbid if I didn't play with it and it got over weight she got really upset... this phase soon passed Years ago when she was about 5 she had this thing about this cartoon character where she would dress up us her and do her hair like her, and when we went out she would always go on.. "can we go home now" every 5 mins... even when we were up the park.... Then there was Avril Lavine... the same thing but there wasn't much inbetween that I can think off... to that extent anyway?? so do these sound like obsessions??

    walking

hi... this is my first post here... the ep thinks my daughter has aspergers tendencies and I've been lurking here looking for answers.... My daughter is aged 9 and for as long as I can remember she has complained about achy knee's and legs.. anyway her OT said that daughter is hypermobile and this causes her ankles to turn in and the knees to move in... she was refered to a orthotist and she now has these inserts for her shoes to support her arch... she said this feels better.... the EP said a lot of children with aspergers are hypermobile! glad that I could help...
