Hi, I am 53 my son is the youngest of my 4 children im feeling my way around things asmy eldest alerted me to him having aspergers years ago so jigsaw puzzle peices in place.....im not going to wory too much as all of my children have turned out well with a future etc......at the moment baby steps...........lindy

Hi, I have 4 children eldest 33 today and my youngest is the one who is dx all of them have traits some more than others their not dx i dint know thye had it but now it all makes sense i used to think does everyone find it this hard brining up children ....youngest to 2 nd hubby its good to know for definate as we can gather more information and coem on here andread stories and identify with them....you ahvent got a problem its just that they are something special......lindy

Hi, His tutor came today but he ahd a meltdown so didnt go to nurture unit or come downs tairs we have realised now the nurture unit is making him anxious andhe worries about it in the days in between he is suppose to attend 2 days 5 hours all together i think its better if he has tutor at moment as i think he has a school phobia ...he is clever abd we dont want to stop him getting work due to anxities about school i just want him to be happy as he can be ....lindy

Hi, We were suppose to go last week but the appoitment was 4.15pm i didnt want to drive in the dark as it would have been when we came out its approx 8 miles from our home.....so ahve asked for new appoitment it came and its the same time have phoned to get one earlier.....he was anxious about going....he cant see the point in it....lindy

Hi, My youngest of 4 has not long been dx with asperges he would like to stay up later so he can fall alseep quicker if not he fidgets.....he also has had a friend in the past who lives in america he wanted to stay up later to speak with him he doesnt speak to him so much now his obsession is the pc ...he hasnt been in school since april 2010 he has hoem tutor and they go to nurture unit twice a week for 5 hours....he doesnt really like it he hasnt got friends jsut the ones online....we dont have social workers just a mental ealth nurse who is attached to CAMHS.... lindy

Hi, I seen her on breakfast this morning....imight get my son to watch hes 12 just dx with aspergers i dont know if the programme starts at 5.00pm have to check....although the female presenter said 4.45pm bbc at its best ............lindy

Hi, Good luck for today tell him how it really is and affects your life and work that was my worry when convincing locum gp in my practise when i wanted my son to be seen by CAMHS...luckily he lsitened and he is now dx with aspergers which has heped us alot as a family to cope now......not in limbo land .......good luck...lindy

Hi, This is why my eldest son 33 yrs set up his own IT business he tried working for other people but it wasnt suitable im trying not to think about my youngest and work for futirehes the same as his elder brother obssessed with pc it will all work out in the end......lindy

Hi, Ican totally understand how yu feel my son has meltdowns and i no amount of talking does any good until he comes out of meltdown its a case of wlaking on egg shells we suppose to vist CAMHS yesterday for a follow up appoitment after he ahd been dx in september with aspergers but he had a meltdown so ahd to cancel and make another apppoitment.....its like this with dentist and other appoitments he attends nurture unit twice a week i know it would be good if someone came up with a solution to this but every child is different and theres not a standard approach ...lindy

Hi,I know exactly how you feel my 12 year old son is the same....april last year we had to take him out of school due to his anxieties of being there now he attends nurture unit connected to the comprenhensive school he has hoem tutor for 5 hours a week she coems with him to nurture unit and they do work there he hasnt joined in with other children yet there is 10 maximum in unit i know about the waiting and things moving slowly but since he was dx in september this year i dont worry so much as this is the way it is his obsession is the pc he is clever ....hes my youngest of 4 and my older children have traits as well but have done well in life so try not to worry too much about the future as youll go mad...so mainly school is the big issue for us and i expect will be till hes 16 ....he has aspergers forgot to say....lindy

Hi, My 12 year old son is the same about his clothes and sleeping have to remind him alot to change them and have to wash his hair when i do get him in the bath after alot of talking.....lindy

Hi, I dontknow how old your son is butmy 12 year old is similiar just dx with aspergers month ago he loves his pc doesnt go to mainstrealm full time only 5 hoiurs in nurture unit with his tutor....germs noises lights traffic when he does go out food issues etc....i can understand how you feel..lindy

Hi, I can understand how you feel my son who is 12 hasjsut been dx with aspergers we dont have much locally to us for help etc....have to travel so thats not an option....im from scotland lived near glasgow in paisley now in south wales .....im happier now with dx as we can move on and read more about it ....if you look online you might find something to help you nearer to where you live....lindy

Hi, I know exactly how you feel my 12 year old son [youngest of 4] was dx 4 weeks ago with aspergers ...it is good to know now for sure ....he hasnt been to mainstream schol for over a year has a home tutor [5 hoursa week] and has started a nurture unit within the comprensive school.When i took him ut of school a year past april he was very anxious and couldnt cope ...it was a bad time but now we are coping better he still ahs melt downs but not as many and wants to be on his own with his pc his obsession asperegrs children dont like homework he said cant see the point ....i have bought a few books to refresh my memory as my 3 older children 33,26 and 22 all have traits....but managed to get an education .....

Hi, My 12 year old son has jsut been dx with aspergers 4 weeks ago it is a reief to know it is aspergers as my 3 older children have traits and i have always thought he had it......it has taken a year and a half approx ....i dont know about special panel what is that.........dont give up keep asking i dont know did you go to gp because thats where it all started for us and he was a locum and ddint see my son as he was too anxious to go to drs but it turned out well good luck

Hi, My 12 year old son and i went to childrens unit today got aspergers dx......it is a relief as i thought he had it as his step brothers and sisters have traits....she gave me some phone numbers will have follow up appointment in 6 weeks time ..to see how we are.....he is ok about it as he thought he ahd it......lindy

Hi, When i read this it is very much like what has happened with my son whos 12 ....by the time we got to yr 6 things got worse anxieties talking about killing himself why me and ranting into meltdowns.....secondary school was too difficult so they provided a tutor twice a week she is very good we are now in another school not too far away got a palce in a nurture unit he goes with tutor at moment until he gets used to it....he loves computer doesnt go out much when he does he is anxious....tomorrow we visit childrens centre in hospitalto get feedback from CAMHS....hopefully it will help i think he has aspergers as his older brothers and sister have traits not dx..........i think it takes a long time to find ways to cope hope oyu get some soon .....linda

Hi, Im not sure what you can do to make it bettter but my son whos 12 does make a mess in the toilet doesntlike to go and usally its once a week he does like baths have to persuade him says the water is sore on his skin.....im waiting for dx think he has aspergers will find out next wednesday hopefully.....t hey dont seem to see the need with hygiene i know about the embassement ...hope he eventually sees how it would be uch better for all of you . soon linda

Hi, He has big anxieties about school full stop thats why he has home tutor she will go with him and myself firstday jsut for a n hour thigns will have to be slow he gets 5 hours tution a week he will have 2 hours the week after depending how it goes he used to be in a welsh primary school and it was stressful sometmes ...speaking only welsh no english allowed or you get into trouble........so not a good start ...his obsessin is computer evry good on it his elder brother has IT company his obsession he is 32 ......will have to wait and see............

Hi, He doesnt know the staff yet we had a couple of visits before school broke up for summer holidays he was concerned about them being qualified to know what is wrong with him and if thye ahd bullying etc his tutor and myself want to ask questions when we visit next week when we came back from visit he was anxious said he didnt want to go there ..........lindy
