  1. Make sure they get work experience before leaving school. Don't assume that if they focus on their special interest they'll be able to waltz straight into a meaningful career on the strength of their degree result.
  2. Back before I was diagnosed with AS I was arrested at a peaceful sit-down protest against an arms fair. My recollection is that we were told that the police would have to warn us a certain number of time before making an arrest, which I took to mean being warned individually as opposed to collectively. I was held in a police cell with the other protestors (one of them Angie Zelter of Ploughshares Four fame) then released on bail. At the magistrates' court a month later I chose to plead guilty to the charge of obstructing the public highway, and forked out a £50 fine and £50 court costs. However some of the other protestors pleaded not guilty and got away with a conditional discharge.
  3. Giacamo Puccini (1858-1924), 'Un bel di vedremo' from Madam Butterfly, performed by Renata Scotto. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9whdQajozk
  4. Funny that, earlier this year a spokesperson for Cambridge NAS told me CLASS were no longer doing diagnoses.
  5. What learning difficulty? I thought that was ruled out by an Asperger's diagnosis.
  6. Isn't a language delay also part of the definition? As in, HFAs have (or have had) a delay in learning to speak, people with Asperger's syndrome don't.
  7. Give me Bristol over Skipton any day!
  8. I've seen A Bridge Too Far. How true-to-life the Dutch dialogue in that?
  9. Duran Duran, Wild Boys My Duran-related claim to fame: I was taught Latin by a teacher who'd previously taught Amanda de Cadenet who later married (and subsequently divorced) John Taylor. Is that cool or what?!

    Hello!

Do you mean you were working full-time when you were diagnosed or that you are working full-time now?

  13. I'm also into sustainability issues, which doesn't seem that common among Aspies IME - I've met more who were into cars and roads. Evidently Swampy was no Aspie!
  14. On that topic... Free range eggs may outsell caged eggs this year.
  15. I'm in my 30s and I've never had a relationship. Am I doomed to be forever unable to take on board people's problems and show my true emotions? And I wouldn't call my intelligence supreme either, not by a long chalk.
  16. Bobby Bland, Stormy Monday Blues Happy new week.

    .

Ribet-Taniyama–Shimura theorem surely? Or does that refer only to "all elliptic curves are modular"? I have a wonderful proof of that but it's too long for this forum's word count.
