    Meltdown

<'> <'> <'> Hope tomorrow's not as bad as you're expecting. We all do it wrong sometimes, don't be too hard on yourself. <'>
  6. Wow, that's such a big change. Good luck with it all. I'd never be able to fit my life into a 7x5x8 foot unit ! I'm impressed
  7. To go privately I contacted the NAS and they gave me a list of people qualified to diagnose in my part of the country. I ended up going to the Autism Research Centre in Cambridge. My diagnosis was actually a bit of a shock for me as I just thought I had traits! My daughter's psych suggested I look into diagnosis for myself. I think it's difficult to get anywhere with the nhs...

    I"m off!!!

Have a great time, hope you don't have to wait that long for the next girlie weekend!
  9. A very long time! I fought dd1's corner all through first school but they ignored my concerns, middle school not much better. Got the "social/communication disorder with autistic like behaviour" label after doing the DISCO at age 11. At age 12 camhs pysch 'suggested' several labels including ASD, PDD NOS, atypical autism. Dd1 has had a statement for the last year...was a long time coming and they refused to assess the first time. I was diagnosed privately last year at the age of 35. I'm still not happy with dd1's 'labels' , she is much further down the spectrum from me, has many more difficulties and I do wonder if she will ever be independent.
  10. Hi Seaweed, welcome to the forum <'>
  11. It is difficult, but when the essay date looms I usually catch up on the work. I'm a kind of last minute rush student, intense essay writing for a few days is how I manage. This year I'm paying for my course so that's what I remind myself of at the moment! I also like to do anything but sit down and write the essay. You do have to be strict with yourself. I'd like to do an MSc with the OU...I'm vaguely hoping to start sometime next year . I find that the OU have increasingly put much of the study material online and I can't read huge swathes of text and hope to absorb any of it this way...so I have had to request paper copies. This hasn't been too much of an inconvenience though. For me it's harder when the girls are off school, summer hols especially because I tend to like complete silence when I'm studying or writing.
  12. I did my degree with the OU coz I would never be able to handle being around people all the time. It suited me fine as I'm very independent and like working alone. Never did a residential though I wouldn't rule it out if the course interested me enough. I've just done a maths gcse locally but it was a small group and I coped ok Had to be taught maths as I'm so useless at it

    Any ideas?

Was just wondering what you do to relax? I get tired very quickly but often don't sleep well and feel so tired all the time. Any ideas most welcome
  15. Poor you! <'> When I had my last wisdom tooth out it already had a hole in it and I was really worried it would break up and the dentist wouldn't be able to get it out. He told me he was just going to wiggle it and he actually got it out straight away. Such a relief! I hope you get it sorted soon... <'>
  16. Have a great time Have been in touch with some of my old pals through the same site, though we haven't met up yet. It's really interesting hearing what they've been up to, quite a few of them have disappeared to various far flung places. I still live in the city I was born in ! Hev, it's good to be hysterical sometimes!
