  1. @ Darkshine Action and consequence. Action and reaction. You said: "For myself, once the habit started it was just something I did, because I could" If he goes to the police before he is caught, they will most likely by kinder to him and if he is grabbed by some over zealous store detective (do they still exist by the way?) Only takes someone to grab him whilst he is doing it and for him to lash out and then he would be up for assult as well as shoplifting
  2. <Sings the Monty Python spam song> recently diagnosed and not through the NHS who are a joke if you are an adult. What is with all these students suddenly appearing and doing research. Has AS become "trendy"?
  3. Suppose each female is different but I will use as an example my "Meal routine" Monday - Fish Pie Tuesday - Korma Wednesday - Chicken & rice Thursday - Pizza .. .. Sunday - Roast with all the trimmings Getting me out for a resturant meal was near impossible
  4. I've never been married and long term relationship have usually broken down at about the 5 year mark. Usually happens as I have been told I am predictable and a creature of habit with set routines. Sound familiar anyone? Lol
  5. Not wanting to advocate self harm but there is a common theory that says the following Pain releases endorphines and endorphnes make you feel good. I used to do it in my youth when I got really angry. I have a few scars but nothing that stands out. She will always find something to use no matter what you remove from the house and at least a razor usually provides a "clean cut" Perhaps speak to your daughters friends in confidence to see if she has mentioned anything that could be a possible trigger?
  6. I happen to know a lot as I have been a son of a policeman for 40 years Admitting guilt (or addiction) is the first step in getting help as is facing up to the consequences to ones actions If you read the posts you would see one from Robert: "At the end of the day, you are committing crimes/offences and the police will not use your AS as an excuse unless you have an official diagnosis" Seems to imply AS (with a diagnosis) is an excuse. It is not. No one is encouraging Charlie. He has a condition that is a b iproduct of AS (possibly) And don't presume to know how I am feeling!
  7. A crime has been commited and someone has admitted to said offence. Charlie has made the first step by admitting here and if he want's help he must admit it to the authorities before he is caught and ends up in a worse situation . In general, as a society, we spend too much time pandering to offenders and worrying about their rights or their well being. The police may not be interested but I (and others) are fed up with the high price of goods and a lot of this increase is due to shoplifting and not just an increase in inflation. AS is not an "licence" to commit crime and should not be regarded as an excuse otherwise the real reason sill never be found and treated.
  8. "At the end of the day, you are committing crimes/offences and the police will not use your AS as an excuse unless you have an official diagnosis" I have an offical diagnosis and as much as I would like to go out and shoot the stupid carbon based lifeforms I can't as it is unlawful. Are all offically diagnosed AS suffers criminals in the making? No I think is the answer to that. If you are compeled to steal then you are suffering from kleptomania and should be treated for that. Going to the police may help face the consequences of their actions and if that means a prison then the following facts will be taken into account 1 - They turned themselves in 2 - Are seeking help for the condition of kleptomania If the sentence is custodial, then so be it.
  9. Not sure if it would be wrong to assume that it is in our inbuilt "pack" mentality for the stonger to exploit (or eliminate) the weaker. There will always be people who can spot and exploit a weakness and a weakness can mean anything. People I have known exploit my generous nature and willingness to delve into a problem inorder to find the solution. Someone once said that most people are good and honest. Well, I have yet to find one and I can't believe in 40 years I have just had bad luck.
  10. Why not go the local police and tell them what you have been doing? I don't see that having AS is a justification for stealing. Why should I and others work hard to get the things we want when someone can steal and then get support to quit like a "good little criminal" You don't sound like you need help more of a wake up call to the consequences for your actions. Should the forum moderators step in as someone is admitting to a crime?
  11. Study for years to be a doctor? Does that include a degree in bulls**it and stupidity After 5 months of waiting to see them I get:- "So you have had your diagnosis, was it Aspergers Syndrome?" - Idiot DR "Yes" - me "Well I will discharge you from here as you need specialist care and we only really cater for depression and anxiety" - Idiot DR Why the hell do you think I am on anti-depressants. Anti-depressants perscribed by them - What a complete moron 5 months waiting for that! Didn't even bother to read the report, Didn't bother to perscribe me anything else when I told them one set of tablets were not working either. He just seem more concerned about discharging me from their care and would not answer any questions I asked regarding time scales. So he perscribes the exact tablets (including the ones that are not working) tells me to increase the dose and then discharges me from care! So again I am in ruddy limbo land. Now I have to wait for that IDIOT to write to my GP and get her to secure funding for me to be treated elsewhere. Another long wait thanks to NHS procedures. And the idiot said it will probably be a hospital in London. Me in a metal tube with loads of people - I don't think so! and I can't even claim back any travelling expenses as I earn too much!(London is a bit ot a trek for me). Can't they get it through their thick heads - I avoid people at all costs and don't go on telling me people are generally good. Not in my experience they aren't! Anyway Spoke to a nice guy at a local organisation for people with ASD when I got back and he says they can't treat me like this and he is also going to get social services as I live on my own I may be classed as a vunerable adult. Not sure about vunerable, emotional maturity of a 5 year old may be.
  12. Wow. All I can say is assult and racism. Mention these to the school and I bet they will soon buckup their ideas. My daughter was being bullied once by older/bigger kids. I by passed the usual protocol and went up the school and waited for them to come out and then started pushing them around and making fun of them. It was not so funny when someone bigger than them was in control. Surprisingly the bullying stopped. Gone are the days when you could clip a kid around the ear.
  13. Yes Robert I have heard of Consultant X before. Like the time I needed to see someone urgently and they booked an appointment with consultant X only to denie all knowledge of the appointment when I got there. Funny how I seem to be a lost appointment or cancelled clinic magnet! They are going to take me seriously otherwise there will be serious repercussions for them - Object will have flying lessions probably followed by a carbon based lifeform doing an impression of Superman out of a window. The point I am making is that I have helped myself. Other than perscriptions for the latest magic tablet, the medical profession has done nothing! It seems to be that becasue I can help myself and use my resources (namely money), that I am OK and can be mucked around and shuffled between queues to meet some goverment quota. LIke a good little drone, I pay my dues, obey the rules and get less to show for it than a common criminal. Everytime I got to this place I am more annoyed when I leave than when I got there. I don't have anger management issue. I just don't suffer fools.
  14. Good luck LancsLad If I were you, I would ask for written confirmation of everything (perhaps take a tape recorder with you) This seems to stop people promising the earth and make them think what they are saying. Seem to be a case of p*ss you off so you leave of your own accord and don't become a failed statistic mark on a piece of paper next to their name. If you want to rant, rant away - I will help if I can Think I will write to the chancellor and tell him that I refuse to pay anything to the NHS as and the goverment have broken their contract with me - a contract that I did not sign or have any say in at all.
  15. They will have a stark wake up call tomorrow. Apparently I am in a queue of people who they deem don't need much help and can quite happily go about our business. As opposed to the queue of people that need constant help and I quote "Teenagers with problems managing stress or bullying" My diagnostic report says otherwise, and among other things states quite clearly that my condition is having a siginificant impact on my day to day life. So as far as I am concerned they can put me in the high dependancy queue and kick out a teenager whose only concern is what tattoo to have or someone is picking on them 'cos they dyed their hair pink! (and I know of a case like this!) Five months between appointments is a ruddy joke! After 40 years of putting up with the world and constanting having the p*ss taken out of me I am not changing anymore and I should not have to threaten to kill myself or pull a "Kevin" tantrum in order for them to take notice and supply the service for what my significant tax and NI contributions pay for. See. I am annoyed before I even get there and have to mix with Carbon based lifeforms In the words of my favourite green person - "Hulk SMASH!"
  16. I'll help out as long as it doesn't involve me travelling anywhere. The more research done the better it will be for all of us with AS
  17. Rant time, So, I have had an appoinment schduled with the "nut doctor" for 5 months now. Sitting patiently, waiting, spending my own cash to get a diagnosis. All was well with the world. Then enter the stupid carbon based lifeform!!!! So I recieve a letter reminding me of my appointment. Correct time, correct date, correct place. INCORRECT DOCTOR!!!!! On challenging them I was told that was I sure I had an appointment with Dr X, to which my reply was "yes" as I have it in writing from you. So I am now told it must be a mistake - Like it's only taken you five months to ruddy notice!!! So off I will go to see Dr Y (My 3rd doctor at this shambles of a clinic) and the last time they made me an appointment to see Dr Y, I got there and they denied all knowledge of the appointment! Yet again I end up going to this ruddy place, annoyed before I even get there, to repeat my story for a 3rd time!! They have been warned that if I get there and all knowledge of my appointment is denied then World War 3 is going to start!! These places are supposed to help you. Well I have had no help at all from the medical profession at all so far. Think I will open a pack of cornflakes and see if I can find a free medical degree. What;s the problem, Is it that as I am not: under 18? A druggie? An alcholic ? Of an ethnic minority? Threatening to kill myself? Someone is going to get a blast of wrath tomorrow!
  18. Hi again all, Well then, now objects have started to taunt me and bug me big style. I recently had to change my home cinema system from manufacturer "A" to manufacturer "B". When I bought the system from manufacturer , I also bought a TV from the same manufacturer and the big badge on the TV saying Manufacturer "A" has been taunting me to the point that I could not watch that TV anymore and had to spend a load of cash to replace it with a Manufacturer "B" TV Now all is right with the viewing world - but has anyone else experienced this sort of problem ?
  19. Had something similar with toothpaste once. All I wanted was something that cleans my teeth but the options were way too many for me to comprehend or the logic Colgate total - for total protection so why waste money producing Colgate whiter than white. I couldn't comprehend it at all. I now shop online to avoid this and the carbon based lifeforms and as I buy the same every week, I just have to review my saved list and click order! SidiousUK
  20. Missed it unfortunatly. Will try to find it on catchup TV
  21. I get something like this as I am very much routine/time based. On the occassions I have been on holiday I totally fail to adapt to any change in time and still work to UK time. One good thing came out of it. At least I got to see some beautiful sunrises
  22. Hi Fluffy Why not ask your employer if they can make reasonable adjustments to your job so that you have less carbon based lifeform interaction. If you have a diagnosis they may be obliged to by law - Can someone confirm this please? SidiousUK
  23. These are my second lot of anti physcotics. There is no way I would even consider anger management. Sitting around with a bunch of carbon based lifeforms is something I will not even consider. To quote a tee-shirt I once saw, I don't need anger management, you need to stop p*ssing me off! The procedure I want is featured in House Season 3 Episiode 11 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Words_and_Deeds SidiousUK
  24. No matter waht you do to help people they always end up <explective deleted> on you. So I see it as dammed if you do, dammed if you don't Best way is to forget, and as I can't seem to forget (even things from as far back as school) the only solution is to have them wiped. As it does not appear that you can selectivly wipe, the only other solution is totally wipe. You seem to know me LancsLad and you should know that I will consider all variables before attempting to get my mind zapped. I have received little to no help at all from the medical fraternity throughout my whole experience with this syndrome to date, so I may as well sort myself out as usual and I don't have the time to wait for the latest "little blue tablet" to see if that works and then onto the next new fad. Don't worry, It is not something your usualy domestic supply can rectify and has to be done within a hospital with specialist equipment SidiousUK
  25. Thanks LancsLad I can only think of one thing that has made me happy and that was when I was about 12 or 13. I want a brain wipe. I don't care if I don't recognise my family, remember how to drive, etc Anything has to be better than living with total recall of times when people have taken the p*ss out of someone who has tried to help out, do the right thing, do a good job. Ethics will have nothing to do with it. Money talks. so if the GP won't do it. I'll go to someone who will - for a price.
