Can't afford heating, £2.48 in my purse to last the next 6 days...and just heard our landlords are putting the rent up even though they don't put any money into the property and expect us to pay for repairs.

Just go in to the local DWP, tell them your circumstances, how much you need and what for and they will help you - they don't take it all back in the one go either which is really helpful.

Have been turned down for crisis loan because we have our rent money in the bank which is going out at midnight tonight so we can't touch it but they see it as funds available...nice happy fluffy thoughts...

I eat on average every two days, but that is what comes with being unemployed.

Alternate day fasting they call that, I know a few that do it.

Hubby says 4days without a shower is unacceptable. I just realised i give baby a bath every other night but have been forgetting about myself!

Lock for door broke. Locked in our own home. We're gonna have to take the whole door off. landlords are ######.

Our shower guard broke last year and that was the last straw for us...they said that even though it was a swing guard we weren't supposed to open or close it! Even though we HAD to open and close it to reach the taps! They also used that line "Beyond reasonable use" indicating that because we now have a child, the normal wear and tear is more than it would be otherwise. Do you think in your experience that this is reasonable? Thanks.
-
Normal wear and tear is just that. If you use it in the 'normal' manner then over time you will expect a certain amount of 'wear and tear'. I think the fact you have damp and it's not being addressed means that your landlord is not fulfilling the terms of your contract which is to let a property in good, habitable condition and make any necessary repairs. Seek advice from CAB asap!

will do Lyndalou, and as ever, thank you for your advice. x

My husband's birthday today and instead of having a birthday present, he spent the money we'd put back on the new pair of shoes my daughter needed! Aw!

Have just spent an hr cooking a mini portion of organic saussage and mash with onion gravy and green veg for little one. Smells so lovely. Us grown ups are having crisp sandwiches again as we can rarely afford to have a proper meal ourselves, bin so much harder since run up to xmas.
