  1. Eggsellent - and thanks.
  2. Joe is up for another award - here's the link if you'd like to read about it & possibly vote for him: Joe Brown's Egg Round He's in the 'open' category near the bottom.
  3. Its lovely - I'd wear it myself if I was several decades younger
  4. Sorry if I sounded brusque. I understand you are having a bad time, & was sympathetic until you started insulting people who are trying to help you back into work. I agree - the quality of advisors can vary tremendously, & sometimes you just don't hit it off with a particular one. You've had bad experiences in the past - put them behind you. The one you have now, from your original post, sounds to be doing her job. She'll have a set number of interviews to do in a day so has to get to the point quickly. She was right to challenge you about cancelling your appointment after a sleepless night - that wouldn't be a valid excuse for missing a day's work, & she was trying to help you into that mindset. As far as the things she wants you to do - show exactly what you have done to seek work - how else can she know you are serious about wanting employment? If there is a problem with you filling forms in then my OH advises that you go back to the DA & make this clear. You could, if you choose, just see the DA rather than the advisor - its a flexible arrangement depending on different client's needs. Job trials can be a very good way of getting back into work - again, a good 'fit' is important. When the system works well, it can transform people's lives. My OH has an AS young man on his caseload. He helped him into supermarket work, which was what he wanted to do. But the commitment doesn't end with getting someone into employment. The lad turned up in a complete panic as he was expected to attend training miles from 'his' supermarket, he'd no idea how to get there & the training was imminent. My OH made some calls, & got his training transferred to the supermarket where the lad was working. This could have made all the difference between success & failure. See, there are good people in these places who want you to succeed. Meet them halfway & be prepared to try things. My OH is happy for you to contact him if you wish. PM me & I'll put you in touch.

    It's a boy

    Congratulations!
  6. Well, speaking as someone who is married to one of these 'grunts' - if this is what you think about them, then your attitude will come across loud and clear. Ask yourself if your advisor's demeanour could have been in any way influenced by your own. If you despise people doing this kind of work, ask yourself if you could do it day in day out - dealing with people offering verbal & physical abuse (I don't mean you) and pathetic excuses as to why they couldn't attend an interview. He's heard it all before, many, many times. Oh, and my 'grunt' recently became a Disability Advisor. He's doing a fantastic job, and I'm very proud of him.
  7. JP used to hate having his hair cut. Eventually, we found a sympathetic mobile hairdresser. He left his pj bottoms on & wrapped a towel round his neck, she cut with scissors & not the clippers, & as soon as she'd finished he shot upstairs & had a shower. These days, aged 20, he takes himself off to the barber's (a proper old fashioned one), has a good gossip, then showers & changes his clothes as soon as he gets home. I never thought I'd see the day.
  8. JP was assessed at 4, dx'd at 5. Don't know who told you it was too young, but that is rubbish. I believe there are tests for toddlers these days. Good luck.

    Eureka!

I've just been on your blog. He's very cute
  10. *Drumroll*..................... HE GOT THE KEYS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen him so happy & excited. We went straight round there & jumped up & down for a bit, then made a big list & went shopping (watch & learn, son ... ) We are all going there tomorrow to start cleaning, & S & her boyfriend are coming over too. I've got the week off work next week to wait in for locksmiths etc. Hopefully he'll be up & running by April. Happy, happy day .... so proud of my lad
  11. Hey pookie <'> No advice as its outside my experience - just to say that in the time I've known you online, I've never known you over-react or make a fuss about anything, so you do right to express your concerns. Hope you work something out.
  12. I'd go with the tiger option.
  13. Happy birthday Bid, glad its been a good one <'> I loved My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding!

    Eureka!

Hello from a jaffa cake addict. I also know Northwich very well as all my relatives live there. Odds on you know some of them, I descend from two very big families!
  15. Best of luck Tally, you deserve this.
  16. Your assumption was based on the first report - the Telegraph report was much further down the thread, & even then only says 'allegedly'. I've made no comments on my own view of this, as I've tried to explain, none of us know what has happened & I think it is absolutely pointless discussing it until the trial has been held.
  17. No. The original report in the first post doesn't state that. It stated that the child had ingested bleach and the mother had been arrested on suspicion of murder. Last I heard, it was still innocent until proven guilty, in this country, if not on this forum.
  18. Thankyou. Yes, our daughter moved out a few years back & we get on so much better now! JP & I went to the building society this morning to get the banker's draft for his stonking deposit. They all know him there & have some inkling of how far he has come, so it was a real celebratory atmosphere, & I had a lump in my throat watching him sign for it. I'll be in bits at the solicitor's on Monday!
  19. That's an assumption. Probably a correct assumption, given that she's been arrested on suspicion of murder, but an assumption nonetheless, based on what the report actually says. He could have drunk it himself. He probably didn't, but he could have. It may have been in the wrong container & mistaken for something else. We don't know yet, & I see absolutely no point in this thread until we do.
  20. Well so much for completing before Christmas Its been absolutely epic. I have morphed into Kirstie Allsop these last 3 months. We have had: 4 surveys 2 different mortgages 2 ###### useless solicitors Considering this transaction was chain-free both ends, & we & the vendor have been absolutely straightforward with each other - its amazing how the 'professionals' can drag things out. But at last, the end is in sight. He signs the draft contract on Monday & should complete by the end of the month, give or take a week or so. Its actually been quite good having the delays - its given him chance to keep on saving, & given us time to get our heads round this big change & adjust to it. But we are more than ready to move on now. Trip to IKEA next, I think
