  1. I would love to be there too. Never got chance when I was younger and it looks like time hasn't made things any easier.
  2. Thank you for you replies. With regard to the bruising. I have Hypermobility syndrome and bruising more easily can be a symptom of that. KarenA, I don't have nose bleeds or periods. I had early menopause so at the grand old age of 42 I don't get the monthly curse any more.
  3. Good point Cat. I was "refered" to SS after I de-reged. The reasons were totally made up and just, as the SW said herself "sour grapes" the problem is that once you have been refered you stay on the SS register even if there is no cause for concern. SM doesn't have a statement so I don't know much about it. But his psych has been trying to get him into a special school (well trying to persuade me) but to do that she says he has to have a statement. I was going along with it just to get her off my back but with no intention of sending him untill I found that if he has a statement and goes to a special school then I have little chance of ever getting him out to HE if things don't work out. It's a difficult area.
  4. I get a lot of unexplained bruises, I think I am lacking in Iron. I had one of my bruises come up on my leg and was trying to think where it had come from when DH reminded me that Superman had punched me earlier in the day while we were in town. I had refused to buy him a Wii game (I have already got it for Christmas) When I realised it was him that had caused it I said no more. Do you think I should tell SM that he has caused me injury or just leave it? If it was an NT child that had done it I wouldn't hessitate to show them. But if I showed SM he would be devastated that he had hurt me. My thinking behind it is that he doesn't know what he is doing at the time so shouldn't have to confront the results later. Or am I wrong, should I show him in the hope it might make him think before he does it again?

    Biscuit recipe

If it was superman it would be a quick lick then stick it on. Sorry not much help, but the icing idea sounds about right.
  6. It just shows that you have to watch what you say in front of our kids.
  7. Heads bleed like nowhere else. My AS DD once fell off the arm of a wooden rockingchair (her cousins idea) and hit her head on a socket on the wall. The blood shot right up the wall. Had to call an ambulance as DH was at work. She didn't make a sound and I was told off by a doctor for letting her play while waiting to be seen. She was only 3 so they didn't want to stitch her head and cause her distress so they tied the hair either side of the cut together pulling the hole closed. By the time her hair had grown the cut was healed and I snipped the knot out. Genius idea I thought. I hope your brave soldier is OK and you get some sleep.
  8. We have all be ill with nasty colds and a cough. We must have been talking about bugs because Superman started coughing and for once put his hand to his mouth. When he had finished he sat studying his hand and then looked up and said " I think I just coughed up that bug Mummy" I gave him a tissue and explained what it was. and all about the kind of bugs we had.

    Dopey Cat

Tally he is lovely. I have a cat who is nearly 20 years old. He has no tail as it had to be romoved when he was younger after getting a nasty beating from an unknown neighbour. He used to steal large coi carp from ponds and got caught one day. He had a broken pelvis, tail and damaged spine. But he is still going, I was going to say strong but he is very wobbly now. His back legs give way and he is going blind and deaf. But boy can he still eat. The down side to that is he can poo too and does it when and where he feels like it. We will all miss him when he's gone though. He has been a big part of our lives for so long. All the kids have known him all their lives. 20 years is along time.
  11. Sorry Karen. Didn't know that wasn't allowed. Will PM in fiture.

    NT DD wont admit

My NT dd is 13 and both my older 2 DDs and myself started at this age. Today I was changing the bin bag and found a pair of her knickers in the bin with blood stains in them My older DD said she had seen a wrapper from a towel in the bathroom but none of us have a period so it must be her. I asked her when she got home from school and she got very defensive, denied all knowledge of the knickers and said she hadn't started. I find it very worrying as I have heard that girls sometimes don't want to grow up and become anorexic to prevent them developing the curves. I don't know how to handle it as both my older DDs have been very open about this sort of thing. They have never had any problem discussing these issues with me.

    GP Surgeries!!!

My GP told me that he hates the system. All GPs have to keep a percentage of appointments free every day (can't remember what parcent but it was a stupid amout) in case they get a emergency. But he said most days he has unfilled appointments because there aren't any emergencies. So I said if I ring up and ask for one of his emergency appointments would that be OK and he told me to go for it. So you could try that. If the Hitler asks what it's for tell her it's confidential. I know it's lying but how do you judge an emergency? If it's that urgent surely you would go to A&E.
  15. Pingu, have you tried contacting programmes like "this morning" or the itv/bbc news? Just a thought. Also if you look on the bottom of most newspapers there is a phone number where you can ring and give them a news story. Might be worth a go.

    Areas You live

Kent born and bred. In fact I was born in the same town as Hev lives but now live in a very beautiful coastal town on the Romney Marsh.
  17. Just had a listen Pingu. They have put your side very well. I only hope the school can come back with an appology and not some ###### and bull story. I think you have done the right thing. This country has got to reaslise that it can't treat people like that and get away with it. I am behind you 100% Go get em girl.
  18. This is for Steve. You are in the right. A true upstanding citizen of this sad nightmare of a country. Thank you for doing what is right, at least we know there are still people out there with a sense of right and wrong. I am so sorry you were treated in such a terrible way. As they say "don't let the b******* get you down." Get as much help as you can from anyone you can. I don't just mean with solisitors but from your GP, this kind of thing can cause post traumatic stress disorder. Make them pay for the dispicable way you and your family were affected. Use your despair and disstress. Turn it into fighting spirit and go for everything you can against them. Best wishes and good luck. Pingu, I hope you recover quickly from your illness. I have had pneumonia and it aint fun.
  19. The last snows of spring. Not a well known film, I think it's Italian. It's about a boy without a mum who is dying of Lukaemia. It is so heartrending. A real must see if ever you get the chance.
  20. I have recieved this from a member of a HE site and wanted to help. I thought you might find it interesting too. Hi there Please could you all help my friend win a lottery grant. She has an 11 year old son with autism. The education authorities want him to attend main stream school on his own, no carer, no support. His condition is such that he has never been anywhere in his life without a member of the family or a care worker, let alone left to fend for himself at senior school! His family are working hard to set up a school for children with autism, providing the kind of education that they need the most, one to one. `The Wishing Well House' has been short-listed to receive a lottery grant, something that would make a world of difference. The family will be on Granada Reports at 6pm on Monday 26th November. The decision will be made via a phone vote. If the call is made from a BT line it is just the cost of a local call and you can call up to 10 times. The lines will be open from 9am until midnight on 26th November and the number will appear on www.biglotteryfund. org.uk/peoplesmi llions thank you Hi Viper/all - Sorry, gonna have to put the 'mods hat' on for a mo... Viper - I've had to remove the link as it is a direct link to an appeal to fund a school in ABA... Anyone who is interested can contact Viper by PM and she can share the link that way. Hope all will appreciate the reasons behind that decision. I've made a couple of amendments to the post itself, highlighting the TV coverage and the background story so that peeps can watch and make a decision about offering their support. Obviously, in addition to those actions I have to make the usual noises about the posts appearance on the forum not implying any sort of 'official' endorsement by those moderating, administarting and operating the forum. 21. http://www.tuxpaint.org/ This is really cool, so much to it and completly free. My kids have been using it and love it so I thought I would share it with you lot.
  22. Superman was having a meltdown over a mouse lid. He had thrown it on the floor and refused to pick it up so I said he couldn't go on the computer until he did. I was sat at the computer while he ranted and screamed. Anyway, he stopped came over and said, "mummy, I just want to tell you, you are not the mother I had hoped for" I couldn't help laughing, but had to turn away or he would have been so angry with me. Then today, he was explaining why he chose a black wooly hat over all the other colours. "well" he said, "Red is my favourite colour but black is my favourite shade." He's only 7 so where does he learn this stuff. All I can say is I must be doing a good job of home educating because he knows stuff I didn't know I had taught him yet.
  23. I would be interested to know how you get on with this one. I am convinced my son is bipolar and his psych has said she hasn't ruled it out for the future but he is too young at 7 to dx him with it at the moment. You might be interested in this http://neuro.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/16/2/199 it's long but bear with it. It's extremly interesting.
  24. Sally, SM is brilliant at that game too. If I play a computer game that has that kind of thing in it he always stands over my shoulder telling me where everything is. Maybe we should get the boys together for a game. Not sure how they would do though. SM has to win or we get meltdown city going on. SM still say's your boy is his best friend.
