    exams

Hi Flutter as you may know, I am over in Dublin ,but my son is doing his state exams in a room on his own with a supervisor/reader that he knows ( school counseller) and it's all being kept as informal as possible to minimise stress. He does them on a laptop and then the supervisor prints it off anything that needs to be wriiten is scribed by her also. It has made things a lot easier for him. Usually on day one everyone has to gather in the main hall for rules and instructions but the school even got him excused from this.I couldn't believe things were going his way for a change and at last feel that he is and his AS is now understood.
  3. Viper, don't even get me started on this one fed up trying to explain things to people now with certain people I just don't bother I too am with Lucas on this one.

    exams

Hi, my son starts his exams tomorrow and I just read Bid's thread about Auriel due to take exams (GCSE's). K is taking 8 subjects for his exams (junior cert) not sure what it is called over in uk . He is 15 and this is his first exams after 3 years in secondary. If he goes back next year he will do exams called leaving cert before he leaves in 2 years. Just wondered what the equivalent exams in uk are. Anyway also wanted to wish all doing exams the very best of luck <'> Theresa
  6. Oh dear ,hope he's feeling ok, my son starts exams tomorrow and because he has dyspraxia and AS he has a scribe,as others have said maybe Auriel could have one put in place as an emergency. I think I remember this happening to a boy in my other sons school a couple of years ago midway through the exams and they called in a scribe. Hope it all goes well.
  7. Late to this one, Belated Birthday Birthday Wishes Kirstie
  8. MY youngest son K ( AS) has difficulty making eye contact ,in primary school before dx this was seen as bad manners an constantly brought up with him, and us. My older son( NT) told K that he also didn't like to look directly at someones eyes when talking to them and learned to look at some place between their eyes ( or elsewhere on their face)and make it look like he was making eye contact , K said he tried this but found it just as difficult. K then grew his hair long and hid behind it,he was out of school for several months and attended an adolescent unit, where every week his written task was ' take hair out of your face so we can make eye contact when we talk to you' ??!!! Used to make my blood boil.
  9. Might try them myself I am very light sensitive and had to have my glasses tinted even for winter! I also have blue /grey eyes. My night vision is not too bad but when driving headlights practically blind me. When my son( brown eyes) had a ceremony of light in school at age 12 for his confirmation they all had to hold a candle for 10 minutes in church and he nearly drove me mad he got really upset and I had to blow it out after 2 minutes this was before he was dx so of course teachers were not impressed at his little " one man show" in the church,he has always been like this though, even hates candles on a birthday cake as it hurts his eyes.

    New forum

Zemanski and Lauren , I have also joined other forums and then found that I had no time to visit them. I know this may sound silly and I'm sure I've said it before but I feel uncomfortable sometimes in other forums and feel at home here. I'll give this other one a go though seems friendly enough.
