    Risperidol

my daughter is on 0.7 mg twice a day and it really helps her anxieties and has stopped her getting really down. She has been on Respiridone for nearly a year now and we have had to adjust her dosage nay times to get the right one. If you do decide to go ahead with it, ask to have it in the liquid form as it is very powerfull and we found that only the slightest increase or decrease can affect her moods. Good luck with whatever you decide, its not an easy decision to have to make and only you and the doc can make it. We found that she is much better on it and she finds life just too difficult without it.
  6. Hev, I got my daughters surname changed by deed poll last year. You can even do it online. I haven't seen or heard from my first husband (her father) since i was 3 months pregnant with her. All I had to do was send in a covering letter explaining why I couldn't get his permission and they sent a certificate back with her new name on. i did it online and think it cost about 35 but not sure. Good luck!
  7. Like your thinking! trouble is she will probably then panic thinking she really is ill! This is the girl who told her pysc. that she had had chinese yellow fever when it was just a bit of a cold!!
  8. Hi my daughter had Sats all last week and coped reasonably well, however she has more tests next week and is freaking out over her French exam. She is coming home in floods of tears and having panic attacks over it. It will be an oral test and she has to learn and remember 5 paragraphs plus the answers to 3 pages of questions! She also has to do this for a German exam, but she's learnt that and is confident about it. My point to the school is that she won't be doing French after July as she doesn't like it so is it worth all the stress and worry? They said that she shouldn't be stressed as she's been doing French for much longer than the German and they can't see what the problem is so I should 'encourage' her to take part just so that they can give her an end of key stage 3 grade on it! I have never asked for concessions to be made for her in the past so its not as though I'm making excuses for her and she doesn't even know that I have asked for her to be excused from the test. So what should I do? I'm tempted not to send her to school on Tuesday but don't want to let her think that if she causes a fuss that she can get out of things, but she is so distressed over this test.

  12. Thanks Flora, it all sounds very thorough. CAMHS said that it would probably be about 6 weeks before the appointment, so plenty of time to find out some more about it! It will be interesting to hear what she says regarding the friendships and communication as these are the things she struggles with most. Thanks again!

  15. That sounds really positive Baggy! Great news
  16. Bit cheeky really but I'm going to ask two questions here! My daughter (14) has Bi-polar disorde and suspected Aspergers. CAMHS have been waiting for her mood swings to settle before going ahead with an as dx and that is finally happening! She had the first stage of the assesment where i had to answer about 3 milloin questions (well it felt like that many, honest!) and now they that she has been stable for a couple of months they have said that she will have an ADOS. What does that involve? will I be with her or will she have to be on her own? The other thing that CAMHS mentioned this morning was some help for her psychosis with the Early Interventions Team. Has anybody had anything to do with them? We are really pleased as things finally seem to be moving for her and she hopefully is getting some proper help instead of just medication reviews! Thanks in advance!!
